Nyx POV
Eating dinner here feels almost surreal. Just a week ago, I was making my way around a new town, and now, I am back to the house I had tried to leave once before. I try not to look at Caedmon, who joined me and Luke in the kitchen. But something makes me steal glances in his direction. The waves of his hair invite me to grab it, and his full lips have become something I crave (stop it!). I can't put my finger on it, but after I had his blood, something within me changed. After getting some food, I headed back upstairs, and everyone headed to their respective rooms. I looked in the opposite direction to look at Caedmon's and he was standing right there glancing at me. I averted my gaze and made my way inside the room where Mila was in bed. After I changed, I got into bed with her and she got close and hugs me. I missed you. Hearing her say this made me feel guilty, but I knew that leaving her here was her best shot at a good life. I caressed her head and let her know that I missed her too.
I woke up early in the morning and walked outdoors to the training grounds. Mila was still asleep but she would be waking up soon to go to school. I grabbed a pair of green shorts that Mila had and an oversized black shirt. Since I was going to train, I brought a scrunchie to pick my hair up. As I'm doing that, I hear footsteps. Looking behind me, I saw Theo and Luke coming my way.
Early bird huh? Said Theo with a grin on his face.
If you don't mind, I'm just here to train.
Well, based on the mess you left for us to clean, you seem to be very capable. The comment annoyed me a little, but I did leave a mess that they had to clean.
I'm here to keep working on stamina and strength. What I did out there was based on other skills.
Do you mean your brain-bending sort of sorcery? Luke elbows Theo on the ribs, which makes him cough slightly. I smirked at his reaction.
I wouldn't call it brain-bending, but I can do a few things.
Ok, I'm curious now. How about you show us? Theo was insistent on seeing what I could do. I guess based on what he saw and what I did to him, he wanted to see how I did it.
How about we spar first, and then I can show you? Theo smiled. He was quite confident that he could beat me and, for all we know, he could. Luke intervened for a moment and said that he'd rather spar with me first to see where I stood. Well, it was Luke versus me then.
Luke stands with his fists up while I take a lower stance with one arm forward and one behind me. It's sparring, but please, don't hold back. We waited there for what it felt like forever. Who was going to go first?
Sooo are we ever starting, or am I going to have to get a second portion of breakfast beforehand? At this point, Theo is just making fun of us. As Luke looks at him, I take that chance to close the gap between us two. I place the hand that was behind me on the floor, and I sweep my right leg below him to knock him over. He quickly dodged that. Using the same momentum, I picked my left leg up with my arms supporting me in an inversion as I kicked my foot onto his jaw. He is able to move in the nick of time, and my foot brushes his chin while leaving some dirt on it. My leg is in the air, and he grabs it to drop me to the floor. As he does this, I lift my torso up and elbow his head, which makes him drop my leg. Agility and speed are one of my strengths, but he is quite nimble. Trying to figure out if there are any blind spots on him, he comes back and starts punching. I can block a few jabs with my arms and suddenly an uppercut. I lower my body to cover my face, and he goes for a right knee to my chest. The blow made me cough for a moment, and by the time I looked up, I turned and saw him. He grabbed me from behind, trying to go for a chokehold. I have a hand in between the crease of his elbow to ensure I can still breathe, and I kick my foot to his knee. Using my left leg, I place it on his thigh to push away and take his weight. We land on the floor, and I grab his right arm. Rotating as I hold it, I go for an arm lock, keeping both legs tight on the top of his neck. He uses his free arm to try and take leverage. He pushes his legs off the floor to try to rotate, and I rotate with him, keeping control of the arm lock, which eventually gets him to cave. We get up, covered in dirt, and Theo starts clapping for us. It was a good match. Luke is quite strong. If I wasn't as fast on my feet, I would've been done.
Alright you vampy beast, let's see what you can do with that brain. Really, vampy beast? I can already tell why Zach is the one that handles important matters. They sit in front of me as I start to explain what I can do.
It's a bit odd to explain, but knowing that we will be fighting as a group soon enough, it's best to know more about each other. I can compel people, which simply put means that I speak and they will have to do whatever I order. Theo stands up and wants to test that theory, to which I say you realize that I did this before with you right?.
That was then, and I don't remember, so it doesn't count. With that being said, it is some b.s. if you can't show...
"kneel" As quickly as I said that, Theo started kneeling. He did try to fight it, I'll give him that, but eventually, his knees were on the floor as he kneeled in front of me rather than breaking the order and allowing him to get up. I smirk and indulge at this moment. Seeing this huge and broad man on his knees with just a mere word was quite a sight. Luke was trying to hold his laughter as Theo looked at me with his brows furrowed.
Are you going to let me get up? Not yet. What's the fun in that? I leave him there as I continue explaining.
Another of my interesting abilities to you both is the pretty artwork I left for you to clean. You mean that mess? Yeah, that was a sight to see. Theo is still on his knees, but his comments keep coming. I have to come in contact with whomever I use this on. Think of it almost like energy or weight that goes out with a vast amount of pressure. Depending on what I'm using it for is the amount of pressure I will use. So, this is what you used on the window? Asked Luke. Yes, exactly that.
Is there anything else? I can shift, but shifting for me is tiresome, unlike for a full wolf like you or Theo. I can also obtain information from anyone if needed. I still need to be in close proximity to them though.
Another touch sort of thing? Sure, let's call it that. It's not my favorite thing to do, but I will do it if necessary. A person's thoughts can be quite chaotic or even painful. I still cannot control simply getting the information, so their pain becomes mine.
That sounds quite rough. It does. I guess it comes as part of the package.
At this point, we decide to go back in as I'm going to see Mila before she heads to school. Theo looks at me and says,
Are you going to let me get up finally? Sure, once my eye contact breaks from you, then you may get up. The fck, so I'm just staying here? I smirk as I start walking with Luke. I walked backward for a bit as I looked at Theo. Take it as being just as rough around the edges as he is. Only then do I look away, and Theo is finally able to get up.
