Chapter 6: Just another toy

1800 Words
Chloe's POV I am sitting silently as soon as we enter a fancy-looking boutique. It seems like he is always here to get his suit done because he wanted his suit too, other than the gown that I would be wearing. However, the owner is still not there. All the staff was surprised to see him here and called the owner immediately. "Mister Carlisle, Miss will be here in a few minutes." The staff member who seemed to be the manager informed Damian. "She said to look around for any designs that you might like." Damian didn't say anything and only nodded. I still can't forget what he did to me earlier, but he is walking around as if nothing had happened. He looked so calm that I hated him more. This man looks around as if he owns the place which I also hate. "He is here for that big ball night! Isn't he handsome?" I heard one of the employees there say. Handsome? If they only knew what kind of man Damian is, they would get turned off immediately! A woman entered the boutique and I could see that she was out of breath. Her hair looked messy because she seemed to be in a quick hurry and that she didn't have any time to fix her hair. "Damian?" She called out to him. I looked at the guy who she was looking for, and I could see his face lighten when he saw her. He was never like that anywhere near me. What surprised me more was when he kissed her hand. He seemed so gentle around her. "What made you come here?" The woman asked and I can sense that she is happy to see him too. "Are you here to ask me as a date for the ball?" Damian chuckled. Every employee here seems to be rooting for them two because of how they react, and I must admit that they do look good together. I wonder why he didn't ask her? It is unlikely that he won't like her because of how he reacts around her. I wonder why? "No, but I am here to buy my suit." He answered before looking at me and I could see his face darken when our eyes met. "And I would like you to meet Chloe Elizabeth Harris, my date." His cold voice was noticeable, but it seemed like the woman didn't notice it because I can see the disappointment on her face. "Sofia Rodriguez, I am his stylist and childhood friend." She offered to shake her hand and I accepted. "Do you want me to help her with her gown?" I could hear the hint of anger in her voice. "That is why I am here." He calmly answered, but I could see on his face that he was worried. Am I going to witness the love drama of rich people? "Sure thing." She said before looking at me with a smile, but I could see that it was a forced smile. "Please, follow me, Miss Harris." "Just call me Chloe." I smiled and she nodded. Nothing interesting happened except for how they give glances to each other as if they are telling each other that no one wants to know. All I did was watch their little drama and keep on fitting different gowns until Damian saw what he thought looked good on me before we went home. However, he went out as soon as we reached the mansion. He looked like he was in a hurry and didn't tell me where he was going. I mean, why would he be right? "All alone in this big mansion," I said to myself. Morning came, and it seemed like he was not home yet. I am the only one sitting at this long table with a lot of chairs. I can't help but feel lonely. "Can you all join me?" I asked the guards, but they didn't answer me however their looks is enough to know that they hated me, "I am sorry, okay? I just want to get away from here. He is dangerous." "Well, if you just stop being a bitc'h, he wouldn't be harsh." One of them said, which made me sink. I feel hopeless right now, which made tears drop. "Okay, we will join you, but just right now." My head looked at the guard who said that, and they all sat in front of the table. I smiled at them and I have never felt this happy in a few days now. Days had passed and Damian only went home on the day of the ball. He hired someone to help me with my hair and make-up without even checking on me. They all helped even when getting me into the gown. "And my masterpiece!" the make-up artist said before letting me go out of the room. Damian is looking at me from head to toe, which makes me feel anxious. The red gown is fitted that defines my curves, and it is also sleeveless with a slit at the end exposing my legs. I have never worn anything like this before. "You look beautiful," he said as soon as I reached him. I felt my cheeks heated, but I didn't want him to know that I was blushing. This man is really unbelievable. He would be sweet and playful, then he would be grumpy and scary. We made our way to the venue using a limo, which is fun! There was champagne and wine inside that we drank while we waited to arrive at our destination, and when we arrived, my jaw dropped. The place is huge and beautiful! I feel like I am in Olympus right now! All the people are wearing masks and elegant gowns, but their eyes turn to us. I can see them whispering while looking at us and I know they are intrigued about who I am. They don't know that I am just a nobody. "Wear this." Damian handed me a mask that complimented my gown. "Thank you." I mouthed before I wore it. He is wearing a black tux with some gold on it which matches his mask. I can see how masculine he is with what he is wearing. "Don't stare, kitty." He suddenly said, which made me look at his face, and he was looking at me. "I might melt." I quickly looked away and I heard him chuckle. Why does he seem to be in a good mood? There are a lot of people here and obviously I don't know anyone here. I did my best to stay close to Damian as he greeted some people. He also introduced me to some, but I bet I wouldn't remember any of their names. We went to a table where his friends seemed to be. They were happy to see them and kept on talking about the girls but stopped when they saw me. "Looks like our lion caught a prey." One of them said. "What is your name, candy?" "Her name is Chloe and not candy," Damian said grumpy. "Ooff! Looks whose territorial," the guy joked. "You know I don't share," Damian simply said before turning to me. "I would grab us a drink." I nodded and he left me there. As soon as he was gone, the playful guy went next to me, which made me flinch a little. I don't know him and I don't know what he can do. My trust for rich people is not established. "Don't be afraid, candy. My name is Kyle." He handed me his hand but I just looked at it. "Like Damian said, my name is Chloe and not candy." I said before looking away. "Feisty and I like it," He said playfully. "But if I were you follow your date." I looked at him, and he was looking in a direction that made me look too, It was Damian talking with a woman, and they seemed to laugh before walking away from the crowd. "It seems like he is caught by his feet." He said, whispering in my ear. Without paying any attention to the guy, I followed them. Not because I am jealous but because how could he leave me with a pool of people that I don't know? He could have invited her instead of me. I know I haven't seen the face, but I know that it is her. It's the woman at the boutique, Sofia. "Sofia, don't be upset." I heard Damian's voice in one of the rooms, so I followed it until I saw a door slightly open, Sofia and Damian are fvcking. They seem to be hungry for each other. I can see desire for each other. "You know that she is just going to take all the hate for dating me. I just can't have you carrying all the stress." he said, which made me feel angrier than ever and left them there. I just keep on walking while I hear everyone laughing or are they laughing at me? People around me always use me, and I am sick of it. Am I just another toy for them? I am also human, and I have feelings, but they seem to forget about that. My legs felt weak, so I needed to lean my back on the wall as I breathed. I don't know how many minutes or hours I am resting there, but Sofia walked in front of me. She looked at me and smile. "I hope that you are enjoying this party and I wish I could stay, but I need to talk to some people." She sounds so sweet. "Talk to you later." She said before leaving me there. For some reason, I can't hate her for letting me be the pawn here. "What are you doing here?" My eyes shifted to the man who made me the pawn. "Why? Should I be there in the crowd, so everyone could throw their hate on me and not on your real date?" I asked. I am so angry at him. "Do I look like a pawn to you?" I said and started hitting him on the chest. "Do I look like a fvcking toy for you? As you hide f*****g your woman? What are you a coward?" I kept on hitting him, but he grabbed my arms. He was gripping on me without any care that it hurts. "Don't you fvcking call me a coward!" he said before leaning closer to my face. "Don't forget that I bought you!" He let go of me before leaving me but stopped just to remind me of my place. "You really are a toy because I bought you with my money." He said coldly before leaving.
