Lucien didn’t go to her room that night.
He didn’t text. Didn’t shadow the corners.
Instead, Evi woke up to find a note on her windowsill — written in sharp, slanted ink that smelled faintly of leather and pine.
> “Come to me. One last time. Before I lose what's left of my control.”

She skipped class. She didn’t even think twice. The pull toward him was no longer a choice — it was a need. And when she found him, deep in the abandoned cathedral at the edge of town, her breath hitched.
He was standing shirtless in front of the stained glass altar, blood on his chest, his fangs bared, his eyes wild.
> “I shouldn’t have called you,” he said without turning. “But I couldn’t stop myself.”
Evi stepped inside, heart racing.
> “Cassian was right,” Lucien said. “You’ve triggered the bond. My restraint is slipping.”
> “Then let go,” she whispered.
He turned.
Faster than lightning, he was inches from her — not touching, but close. The heat between them burned like wildfire.
> “Don’t tempt me, Evi,” he growled.
> “I’m not scared of you.”
> “You should be.”
But she reached for him anyway — one hand on his chest, the other grazing his jaw.
His breath hitched.
> “You don’t understand what this bond means,” he said, voice low. “Once sealed, there’s no going back. You’ll crave me. Dream of me. Bleed for me.”
> “Then make me yours.”
He crushed his mouth to hers.
No hesitation this time. No pulling back.
His kiss was fire and danger and possession. She felt her knees weaken, her body melt into his. His hands gripped her waist, then tangled in her hair, and he lifted her like she weighed nothing — pressing her against a stone column, lips trailing fire down her neck.
> “Say it,” he growled into her skin.
“Yours,” she whispered. “I’m yours.”
A snarl rumbled deep in his throat.
But just as his fangs grazed her skin — just before the final bite — a sound tore through the air.
A scream.
A human scream.
Lucien froze. Eyes wide. Senses snapping back into sharp control.
> “Someone followed you here.”

And just like that, the moment shattered — and the hunt began.
