Alison, Alexandria’s younger sister who was living with her mother, the werewolves’ former queen, got married to Noah who is a pure hunter and was Max’s best friend.

They are living on hunters' territory as Noah is a pure hunter and Alison was the former chief’s daughter.

They maintain a relationship with Alexandria as she is family, and some time they visit her, but they keep their distance, and Alexandria is forbidden from ever stepping foot on hunters' territory.

Mason POV

“The mutts are threatening war Mason. Maybe they really don’t know where Max’s kid is. I mean we are not even sure if it was really a girl” Sam says, after giving me the latest reports of the situation.

“The intel is right, she is a girl and they have her, and if they don’t… then it won’t hurt killing them all”, starting with Alexandria.

“Chief, someone is here to see you” my assistant informs me.

“Who is it?” I ask.

“It’s me chief Mason”, Noah.

“Hello, Noah” Sam says.

“ Lieutenant” he greets with a nod.

“Why are you here, Noah?” I ask.

“Okay, straight to the point, I’m here because of the werewolf siblings that you took”, of course he knows.

“What? Did your sister-in-law call you hysterically crying asking about them?” I mock.

“It wasn’t much crying as it was a slew of curses… I mean you know Alexandria and her mouth”. Yes, this girl never learned manners.

“And you want a favour or something? Isn’t letting you and your wife have a relationship with her while you live with us, favour enough for you”, is he really asking for one?

“No, we appreciate it, and I’m here to return the favour… the news of you taking a couple of kids hostage is not sitting well with a lot of people, and a lot more are not interested in a war Mason… there is talk about overthrowing you”.

“They will forget all about it when I bring them the alpha king’s head” I smirk.

“And since when do we kill as we please with no code or cause” he says, unpleased.

“Since they killed my brother” I slam my hand on the desk, losing control over my anger.

“You are still holding on to revenge… and I know you don’t want to face it, but it was Maximus' choice to follow her, and it was his choice to save that man”, Bullshit.

“If it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t even know who that man was… he loved her literally to death and she didn’t even love him back, and now she is hiding his kid from me, wasn’t it enough that she took Max from me” I shout.

“I wonder how Max would have felt about you trying to kill the love of his life” he says with disappointment.

“Well, he is dead now, so it doesn’t matter, and I wasn’t counting on you to join in anyways, Noah” I answer trying to collect myself.

“I bet you didn’t count on me finding James and Jemma, and setting them free as well, did you?” he smirks.

“You did what?” I fume. The son of b***h.

“I stopped an unnecessary war, and you should be grateful” he says, pointing a finger at me.

“You know what that means for you and your family?” I threaten.

“It means nothing, because believe it or not, I’ll always have your back… and this was for you more than it was for Alexandria. War is coming, but it’s on you and you need all the allies you can get, and I’m one of them”, the audacity of that fucker.

“You are a traitor” I lunge at him but Sam holds me back.

“If cleaning up your s**t is treason, so be it, but I did what even your right arm Sam wanted to do, but couldn’t…Mason, I’m on your side, but you don’t even know what side you are on anymore, because what you are doing is not our way, it’s not Adam’s way”.

“Don’t you dare use Adam to justify your treason” I say trying to get out of Sam’s hold.

“And what are you using to justify killing his daughter” he screams at me.

I don’t know why, but I’m taken aback.

I stop fighting Sam and he releases his hold on me.

“Get out, Noah , before I do something I’d regret” I say and without a word, he leaves.

“I know you don’t want to hear it, but he is not wrong Mason, you are going too far and with no results… maybe it’s time to step back”, even Sam is against me now?

“Leave me alone Sam” I say and he obeys.

What the hell am I going to do next?

James POV

“Hey, potato sack” I call Jemma.

“You are just jealous because I got something on and you are butt naked, asshole” Jemma snaps back.

“Someone is coming, and if I’m to be jealous, it wouldn’t be from the piss bag you are wearing. Now shut up and get behind me”, she does as I say.

The door unlocks and in comes a girl.

“What the hell? Why are you naked James?” She says covering her eyes.

She knows me? Have I slept with her before?

“Ava?” Jemma says, coming from behind me.

“Ava as in uncle Noah and ante Alison’s daughter?” I ask.

“You know for an alpha, you are very observant” Jemma mocks.

“Come on, there is no time, I have to get you out of here before the next shift starts” Ava says, and leads the way.

“Should we trust her?” Jemma whispers to me, still unable to link.

“Do we have any other choice, and what would be her plan here, kidnap us again?” I reply my paranoid sister. I mean we used to play with them when we were kids.

We go through a long dim corridor with cell doors on each side.

“What about the cameras?” I ask as we take another turn in this concrete maze.

“Mia took care of it” Ava answers.

Mia is her sister, I used to have a crush on her… I wonder how she looks like now.

“How is Mia?” I casually ask during this escape.

“Seriously James, now?” Jemma says, annoyed.

“She has a boyfriend” Ava answers, equally annoyed by me as Jemma is.

What? I’m just trying to break the tension, sue me.

“Okay, get out of that door and you’ll find Tom waiting for you in a car. You need to move fast, my dad is about to finish his meeting with the chief and we don’t have a lot of time. Now go” Ava says.

Tommy, the brother, never liked him, he’d always beat me at whatever game we played when we were young.

“Dude, why the f**k are you naked?” that’s how Tommy greets me as I open the car door.

“Just shut up and give me something to cover myself with, Tommy”.

"It's Tom, Jimmy" he says irritated.

"Don't call me Jimmy-"

" Shut the f**k up the two of you and get us out of here" Jemma shouts. She got a point.

“Here”, he reaches to the back seat and hands me something.

“That’s a pink skirt” I say holding it up.

“It’s all I can find, it’s stretchy, it’ll fit, don’t worry about it” he says, snickering as he drives off.

I’m half mind thinking about turning back, but at the same time, that skirt is really soft on my skin… I think I like it.

Maxima POV

“I didn’t ask you to kill my f*****g MATE” she screams in my face, making me revisit the thing I regret the most.

“Alex, you knew what his intentions were, and we barely saved you… he didn’t deserve you as a mate and he deserved what he got” I try to remind her of my reasons.

“He might have deserved it… by I didn’t” she says with a broken voice.

“I know, and I’m sorry, I will forever be sorry, you have to forgive me and forgive yourself at some point Alex” I plead.

“Get out Max, go sleep or f**k Gabriel or Gunner… or maybe both… you don’t really give a s**t about what I went through” she says, turning her back at me.

“That’s not-” I start to say but she cuts me off.

“Get out Max” she yells.

I leave her room, no more words to be said.

I fight my tears as I walk back to my bedroom.

We were close, so close, I even considered making her my beta... she would have refused it anyway.

I know she would die for me and I would do the same for her still, but what happened changed everything.

I throw myself on my bed letting all the tears, the stress, the frustration of today come out.

My tears turn to screams of anger… what the f**k is happening to my life?

“What’s going on? Are you hurt? Are you okay?” Gabriel burst through the door connecting our rooms, and straight to me.

“No, I’m not okay, nothing is okay” I say, still laying on my bed and staring at the ceiling.

“Let’s take you back to the hospital” he says, trying to pick me up.

“My wound is the only thing that is okay… everything else... hurts” I say stopping him.

He sighs then lays next to me.

“Yesterday, at the same time, on that same bed, everything in my life seemed just right” he says, staring at the ceiling as well.

“Yeah, and now everything is f****d… My cousins were taken, My Gamma hates me and my mate is not who I wished he would be”.

“Your mate… I still can’t believe it, but what’s done is done I guess” he says getting up.

“Nothing is done, stop acting like a child and actually listen to me, all you hear is that I don’t want you while all I say is I wish it was you… you want me to go reject Gunner right now… but what if it was you who found his mate? Huh? …You would have rejected her on the spot after one night of hot s*x with someone else?” I say sitting up and shout at him.

Shit! that came out wrong.

“So that’s all what it was” he says with a dry chuckle, shaking his head.

Before I have a chance to explain myself, we hear shouting coming from down the hall.

“Is that Alex?” I ask moving toward the door.

“Is that Jake?” Gabriel asks following me.

“They went downstairs” Gabriel says, as we search for them.

“What the hell is going on? Is that Alex?” Zander asks as he comes out of his room and follow us.

We find a seething Alex and a half naked Jake standing at the bottom of the stairs, yelling.

“You have no f*****g right to be mad, Alex” Jake yells.

“I have every right” she yells back.

“Bullshit, you’ve done nothing but be cold and cruel to me… threatening me if I try to get close to you, or if I told anyone anything that you will-” Alex cuts Jake off.

What is he talking about?

“Don’t say anything” she grits.

“Why not? You are not holding this over my head any longer … thinking treating me like crap because of it is okay”.

“Shut up, Jake” Alex yells again.

“I don’t take orders from you, gamma, and I’m not keeping your secret anymore” Jake says, pissed.

“Don’t you dare say anything” Alex warns.

“Save your warnings… If you are that ashamed and disgusted by me, let me make it easier for you, because you are ruining my life as well, So, I Jake Simmons from White rock reject you-”

“Don’t” Zander yells as he punches Jake, stopping him, knocking him to the ground.

Jake and Alex are mates?
