Chapter 10 - That Went Well!

Gabriel POV

“Welcome” Alpha Patrick says, f**k, I hope he didn’t hear any of that.

I hoped I would fill him first about the whole situation before he met them.

“Alpha Patrick, thank your for having us at your pack” Maxima says, extending her hand for him to shake.

“Wasn’t my choice” Patrick says with a fake smile, ignoring her hand.

“Well, we all follow the king’s orders, don’t you agree?” she says slightly rising one eyebrow and staring right into his eyes, still sticking her hand out, basically daring him to say otherwise.

“Of course, all hail the king… and his queen” he says finally taking her hand.

That went well… right?

Who am I kidding? You can practically cut the tension with a knife.

“Beta Gabriel, show our guests to their rooms then join me at my office, please” Patrick says then heads inside, and I can see the confusion on blue eyes face.

“You haven’t told him that you’ll be taking over yet, haven’t you?” she asks.

“I’m about to do just that… Jake, please show them their rooms” I tell a sour faced Jake, who has been scowling the whole way back from Crimson River since I saw Alex tell him something before we left.

“Yes beta” he says then leads the way.

I’ll figure out what’s with him later, now to the alpha’s office … I pray he won’t bite my head off, even worse, him biting alpha blue eyes head off.

“VACATION?” Patrick roars as I deliver him the news, the king’s order.

“Patrick, if you think about it, it’s not a bad idea, Lauren needs you now more than ever” I try.

“Bullshit, and you know it, otherwise he wouldn’t have sent his spun of evil” he snarls.

“She is just here as an advisor for a short period of time while I temporarily take over”.

“So now what? You’re the new alpha?” He asks, feeling betrayed.

“Of course not, you are and always will be my alpha, Patrick, I will never forget what you did for me and my family, my loyalty is always to you, but we have no other choice for now but to prove to the king that you are not as feral as the rumours say… starting by you doing what he said” i try to get through to him.

“He is not fit to be a king, his w***e is not fit to be our queen” he says, starting to lose his temper again, as if he gained it to begin with.

“You shouldn’t talk like that Patrick; you don’t know who might hear” I warn him, things like these are what got us in this situation in the first place.

“Soon I’ll even tell it to his face” he snarls.

“Then it will be the death of all of us” I snap at him, he has to realize that what he is doing will ruin his life, will ruin all of our lives.

“Patrick, think of Lauren, she needs you, your pack needs you, if you died what will happen to her?”

“Lauren is all I think about” he says then leaves slamming the door behind him.

That went well.

On the to the next situation to fix, Leah.

“What the hell was that,gab? And who are these people?” Eli asks as soon as I enter my family’s home.

I love that house, sometimes I consider leaving my suit at the pack house and moving back here, but with no alpha there, i have to step in.

“I’ll explain later, now where is your sister”.

“She is in her room but she wants nothing to do with you … you pulled the ultimate asshole card and you f*****g beta commanded her” Elijah states, probably as pissed as his sister.

“I know what I did Elijah, no need to explain”.

“But there is, because that was the one thing you promised not to do when you became beta” he says a little hurt for what i did to our sister.

“I know I f****d up, believe me, but when you know why, you will agree with me” I try to justify what i did.

“And what in hell would be a good enough reason for you to command your sister away from her mate? I mean there is the whole protective brother thing and then there is just crazy” Elijah says not really having it.

“It’s not like that… okay... it is like that but not just that”.

“Then what is it Gabriel?” Leah asks, coming down the stairs.

“I can’t really say” I can’t, it will blow their cover.

“Well that’s convenient beta Gabriel” she says and I’m pretty sure she meant the beta part as an insult.

“And what makes you think I will stay away from my mate? Are you going to command me again beta Gabriel?” Leah says pissed, crossing her arms.

Yeah, she means it as an insult.

But she is right, I can’t keep her away from him and I can’t keep commanding her.

Maybe just tell the truth, but maybe not the whole truth?

“I will tell you but this secret stays between the three of us and only us, okay?”

“Okay” they both say intrigued.

“What is the one thing mom and dad told us not to do?” i remind them.

“Not to talk to strangers?”Eli replies.

“Not to eat off the floor?” Leah adds.

“To keep the goddamn toilet seat down?” Eli jokes.

“Yeah this was a mistake, I’m not telling you anything”, immature idiots.

“Like hell you won’t, speak now… please?” Eli kinda pleads.

“They told us under any circumstances to stay away from who?”, mayebe now they will remember.

“The royals… he is a royal?” Leah says almost heart broken and I just nod, not knowing what more to say without exposing them.

“Who is he exactly?” Eli asks the question I’ve been avoiding.

“A relative of the king a very close one” i vaguely answer.

“Now Leah do you know why I acted the way I did” I say hoping she understands.

“But mom and dad could be wrong, they are not all the same” Leah tries.

“You know their history, anyone that gets involved with them suffers, you know how Patrick and the pack feels about them, how mom and dad feel about them… and you know what they did thier families... he will only ruin your life baby sis” I say knowing i'm breaking my sister's heart, but it's the only way.

“But-"she tries to say something and I cut her off.

“But nothing, the pack will turn on you, mom and dad will disown you and there is a very big chance you’ll end up dead Leah”.

She looks at me trying to suppress her tears before she runs back to her room.

“But why are they here, gab?”, f*****g Elijah.

Well, i think it won't be a secret for long.

“they are here to over see me while I take over from Patrick” I tell him the whole thing in a nutshell.

“What? You are the new alpha?” he asks, shocked and a little excited.

“No it’s just temporary, I’m still the beta”, i explain.

“Then why the hell are you taking over?”, curious little fucker, but who wouldn't be in his place.

i wonder how i will explain it to the pack too.

“Because the way he is behaving is not a secret anymore and it reached the king, and he suggested that this would be a better option than beheading Patrick”, yeah, i wouldn't explain it like that to the pack.

“You will have a lot of s**t to explain to mom and dad when they come back from their trip” he says amused.

“Yeah yeah I know, I’ll head back to my room now, keep an eye on Leah for me till I come back tomorrow” I say then leave the house but before I reach the pack house I’m stopped with someone I literally forgot existed , Sarah, s**t.

“Gab, you didn’t tell me you are back” she tells me while giving me a tight hug.

“ so are you ready for our next date tomorrow?” she says with a sexy smile.

Shit.

This is not going to go well.
