CHAPTER 1 The unexpected friend The Orange sunrise splits open the dark African sky. The birds start their daily choir practice. It's the dawn of a new day. As Chris opens his apple green eyes to the bright reflection of the Indian Ocean. He gets up from the hard, dry ground. The light runs along the ground towards his brown leather shoes they have a thousand creaks from the travel he's his had. Looking at the horizon as far as his sight will allow him to see. Thinking to himself she was gone yesterday and will never return gone forever a apocalypse. Every day brings new beginnings, with each sunrise, and it all comes to an end with every sunset. Good or bad, it will pass. For a tall man like Chris at six feet three stretching in the morning is essential. Stretching out his body from the good night's sleep a pop/c***k nose is coming from his back. Chris takes his soap from his bag in one hand, takes off his shoes, and his clothes run into the ocean. He dives between the waves, washing himself, and getting out of the ocean, with that's the shower done. A few meters from the ocean is where he parked his motorbike on the gravel road by his campsite. Walking over to the bike at the back of the bike, the top box has a towel. He starts to dry off at the top of his head, struggling to get his thick, curly light brown hair to dry. Proceeding with the rest of his body, his back and chest that has a lot of scars and tattoos from his years in the army, and being held prisoner by some or other government somewhere in the world. All the women from the village spy on him from a distance. It's not every day you get to see a n***d white man in the heart of Africa. Once done, he reached the back of the bike, the top box there was a fresh pair of clothing. A white vest, a long olive green button shirt, long light brown cargo pants and a pair of long black wool socks, and some new underwear. He gets dressed for the day. There is a wisel coming from the cetal that is boiling water on the campfire. He gets the bag of Uganda coffee beans from his pack and grinds them to perfection. Pouring it into his coffee maker and adding the boiling water to the coffee maker, then pouring out the coffee into a tin cup. As the hot steam reached, his nose smelled all the aromas of the coffee. He asks himself. " What does the day hold for me?" He takes out an old notebook filled with maps and drawings of locations. Opening the map" I am close, but yet so far." Packing up his gear into his bick, top box. Rolling up his sleeping bag, killing the campfire. His thoughts drift off thinking of the reason. He is so far from home and all the sacrifices he made to be right at this point in his life. It's the treasure, the idol that has hunted his family for decades. For so many have tried to find the Idol. But none have ever finished the quest falling short of finding the Idol, including his grandfather and father. The maps never lie. He drives as far as his bike will allow him. Town by town pass by following tracks that lead nowhere. The location on the map makes no sense, but somehow, thanks to the notice and the ability to be able to think outside of the box he figures it out to go. Finally, after driving for hours through the harsh African landscape, he sees it. The cabin of the last man did know the whereabouts of the idol the tome of John Piper. The cabin is on a hill behind it are two mountains. You have to look very closely or you'll miss it. Its overgrowth lets it blend in with the surroundings. The cabin was built in the 1800s, so it's very old. He goes up to the cabin walking took him a while to reach the cabin's front door. Trying to open the door, but it's stuck. Forcing himself in by shoving the door open. Once in the dust, jump up after a few seconds, and the dust settles. Their not much to look at only a deck in the corner of the cabin. He walked over to the deck. As he walks you can hear every step because of the old wooden floorboards. There were a bunch of maps and books that were open. As he is going through the books and maps he sees a symbol that matches the symbol from his grandfather's notebook. As he slides his hand over the notebook. A pen rolls off the desk it lands on and in between a groove in the floorboards. Revealing a loose board he removes the board to find a hidden passage. Switching on his flashlight and entering the dark pit. He willows down into a deep underground tunnel, but then. There is a c***k nose coming from the entrance that he came from. He turns around, and a familiar figure appears. "Mary, is that you?" With long black curling hair and sky blue eyes. Features like the Milky Way running under her eyes and a cross over her nose. Pink lips like thine came from a rose. A figure of an athlete wearing nothing but a black tank top, brown shorts, and hiking boots. She runs up to him and tackles him, and they both tumble into the tunnel. The passage/tunnel leads to a chamber. As they roll and fall, they move closer towards the chamber. This activated a trap door of the chamber as they landed in it. But the chamber is booby-trapped. When they try and stand up, Chris presses down on a tile floor that gives way. That's when an arrow shot out of the wall into Chris's leg. Mary slips at the exact moment, hitting her head against the wall knocking her out. Chris screams off the pain, but luckily the arrow does not penetrate too deeply because the trap is very old. The arrow comes out easily. He takes off his t-shirt and tears off a piece, and ties it around his leg where the wound is to stop the bleeding. He limps over to Mery, which is gaining consensus. Tell her to be careful because there might be more traps. They can't go back the way they came. The camber is so old that the magnet holding the door up broke. There is no way to get it back up again. There is no way out Chris makes light, so they have more than one source of light. The fire starts to blow to one side. It's when Chris realizes that there is a breeze blowing. That means if there is wind, it has to be coming from the outside. Meaning that if there is a way that they somehow can follow the wind. That they would escape the tomb to their salvation. Chris starts to press against and rub it. It's when he released one of his in the room that are lost. He tells Mary to hold the torch, and he pulls the sconce. The wall starts to move backward and down into the ground, the entire chamber shakes. When eventually everything stops and the dust settles a new passage is revealed. It looks like there is another chamber at the end. They go, but with great caution, the passage might be booby-trapped. As they get closer, the moonlight lights up the center of the chamber. In the middle of the room is someone's tome. Chris and Mary, each them take the option side of the tome lid. They try and lift the lid, but it is too heavy. "Come to my side, we need to lie on the floor, and your back, we'll let our legs push the lid over."They push the lid with their legs it's working, and the lid is moving up and in the opposite direction. When the lid gets heavy enough on one side, it falls over, and the tome is open. They jump up and look inside but there is nothing but a crumpled rold piece of paper.
