Harker stood in the library holding Irene. Today had been perfect, better than any wedding he could’ve imagined.
Alison had looked even more beautiful than she had the first time they’d gotten married. This time, instead of having her head lowered and muttering, she’d walked toward him, her eyes sparkling with happiness and filled with love. She’d also spent the day by his side and hadn’t gotten drunk.
“Well, it’s time for us to say goodnight.” Estelle reached for the baby.
He tightened his grip on his daughter and started to step back, stopping when Alison’s small hand touched his shoulder.
