CHAPTER 27

And so, as I reach the main hall. I instantly studied the two empty walls contrary from the secret doors leading to the library and the other floor where the artificial garden is located. Two secret doors remain a mystery for me what lies beneath it. In my case right now, I could only choose one because when I use this sensor, Leandro might actually notice it already and I could no longer change my decision had my first option is a failure. I have to think about whether to take the right-wing or left-wing. I have a complete hunch about the left-wing but something tells me it should be the right one. I have to think like the master of this household. If I were him, which door would I actually choose? My hunches were too strong enough to keep me from choosing the right one. I have to follow my hunch and pick the left one instead. Even my time is too limited now, I have to think quickly before Leandro comes to cease me. And so, I stand before the left-wing and followed the same steps Leandro did with the smartwatch. And true to my assumption, these wall is indeed surrounded with secret doors leading to another extension of the whole dome. How remarkable despite being a god-forsaken place in my perspective. Without hesitation, I took my step inside the elevator and close it before anyone sees me. As the elevator moves up and opens a new scenery for me. I was so awestruck to see a long undersea tunnel ahead of me. But what made me more surprised is the image of the sea's surface I am seeing across the thick glass wall. I can't believe this. I can't believe what I am seeing now is real. It felt unreal but I have to slap myself as I am here witnessing the reality of my efforts to escape. I'm finally out of the dome and will soon reclaim my freedom. This time, I took the quick run to check for an exit at the other end of the tunnel. My body is not used to running this much making me gasp for too much air. But I didn't let myself be bothered by it, not now when I'm so close to reaching my freedom I've long so much to achieve. My eyes began to tear up as I stride from left to right trying to reach for the other end. I'm going soon, I'm going to see my dad, my mama, my siblings, and my grandma. I'd also finally see my friends I haven't heard of ever since the wedding. This is the moment I've been waiting for and I can't let anything hamper me back anymore. But just as I was nearing what I believe was the exit, something-or more like someone suddenly creeps me out as I saw it standing on the other end that made me stop. I tried looking at it further hoping it wasn't one of the master's guards but to my horror, It was more horrifying than the master himself. This has been the first time I've seen this in my whole life. My whole body froze as I stand before a creepy sea creature with a body similar to a human but has skin looking almost like of a frog's with scales around its shoulders and chest. Its fingers and toes have those pointy claws that could probably chunk you to piece in a single s***h, then those gills like fish on both sides of his neck, and it even has large fin-like ears. But what really terrified me was his hideous face similar to an anglerfish, not to mention as I witness with my two eyes how this creature is currently devouring the stomach of one of the maids in the dome. Just what on earth is this predator doing here? I keep swearing at the back of my head while cursing fate because right now, I felt nothing else but just my cold feet. Seeing this beastly creature in front of me devouring a dead woman lying on the ground just makes me puke. I can't see more of this. Being in such a moment, left me no other choice but to withdraw back and find my safety. I took the wrong move when I thought I was just a few meters to my freedom. My eyes were tearing up as I raise my chin to glance at the shallow surface of the sea above me. it's vividly dark if not for the seeming glow in the dark green poles along the glass tunnel that serves as enough light to see the hallway. I must hurry while maintaining the silence for me to avoid getting the attention of that beast. At this moment, I would prefer being captive of the dome once more than being this creature's dessert. My feet were already taking a faster phase than before. The agony has a switch to fear which brought tremble across my nerves, sending me chills all over my body. I could sense my lips shaking from fright that the creature might already be running after me. I tried to look back from time to time but It's not even following me. Yet, I can't be calm and let my guard down unless I could keep myself safe back inside the elevator. If I think about it, running back inside appeared longer compared to when I first took the way out. I also run a while back and got here fast. How come this tunnel becomes a bit longer to my perception? I was running for my life--like hell was behind my tail. My breathing becomes heavier as I lack air yet my body is too focused on utilizing all my energy to run. I titled my head enough to check behind my shoulders and I still don't find the creature following me. This is really making me nervous. I nearly peed my skirt out of my nervousness. The hope came back to me as my eyes caught sight of the empty wall where I came from. And with it, I immediately took a leap to head there quickly as I can. I raise the smartwatch from my wrist and tried guessing which part of the wall is the sensor. "It could just be among the sides for sure." I mused. My inner thoughts are beginning to panic but my brain, thankfully, remains to think which side could the sensor of this elevator is hidden. The sweat in my temple is flowing down across my brows as I try to configure where it is. I have been so focused on the wall that I completely forgot about the creature. And just when I was talking about it, I heard a creepy deep hoarse, and creaking sound coming closer to where I am. It couldn't possibly be the creature, isn't it? "Oh s**t!" I cursed while quickly trying each of the sides once more. I keep on navigating the screen of the watch on all sides, but to my astonishment, it seems that there was no sensor or whatsoever pad that the watch could detect. "I'm so f****d up here!" I told myself as tears voluntarily race down from my eyes to humiliate me further. What have I done now? Moreover, what shall I do now? I could hear the deep creaking sound of that creature and it really is sending so many frightening vibrations in my body as the sound comes closer and closer. How did it notice me? I tried my best to remain silent while running back here though.
