Adrian Cole POV
"Clara, calm down."
I whispered as I moved closer to her. I pulled her toward me, my cold fingers cupping her cheeks. I forced her to look away from that dead girl and look into my eyes. I was drowning in worry for her. The moment she saw me, she burst into tears, her whole body shaking with fear.
"Mr. Cole."
She sobbed out my name, her eyes swimming in tears. I looked at her, my heart aching with regret. I pulled her into me, my large hands wrapping around her back as I buried her in my arms.
"Quiet now. Just breathe."
I murmured into her ear, tracing small circles on her back to soothe her. She clung to me like I was her only lifeline, her grip tightening on my coat.
"I..."
She couldn't even finish her sentence. Her body went limp, and she fainted right in my arms
