Part 1

Allison smirked as the scream echoed in her ears, tilting her head towards the closed mahogany door. To her right, the trainee began shifting on his feet, awkwardly adjusting his glass and mumbling. Probably a prayer. He looked like he was about to piss his pants any moment now. She pursed her lips, turning around. “Kyle, this is your first day on the field, so I’ll be easy on you. But you need to stop mumbling” The twenty-two-year-old scrawny lad nodded his head in response. Allison tried not to curse, simply clenching her hand in a fist. Why did her father give her the task of training these idiots? It's like he was punishing her for something. Actually, he was. A week ago, she secretly went to the old tavern to meet Amelia, her only werewolf friend. Trouble brew when two Alphas took an interest in Allison, sniffed and followed her to the hunting ground. She killed one of them and was spotted by two people nearby. Her dearest father had to give them the fattest check possible. “A-Are we going inside?” “Oh no. We are only standing here to enjoy the screams from inside.” “Really?” Kyle perked up at that. “Of course not, Kyle! Open the door.” He timidly took a step forward and flicked the light on before pushing the door. Allison squinted her eyes, swiftly trying to adjust to the light. Her brow raised when she spotted the person with his hand pinned against the wall, knife dug deep in his palm, blood trickling past his arm. The hunter daringly moved towards him, aware of the claws on the man. Another weak Alpha werewolf with no restraint to his instincts. And humans people feared their kind. Sucking a deep breath, she met his eyes. “Why did you follow me?” "Get this out of me!" The Alpha howled, "Now!” Kyle flinched, wrapping his arms around himself. The hunter turned her nose up. Even in pain, the Alphas carried themselves so mighty. Annoying really. Allison sat down on the nearest bed, her legs crossed and leaning back on her palms. The Alpha in front of her was over six feet, sharp canines to tear off human flesh in an instant, eyes bright red against the pale walls of the room. Still, no part of her feared him, especially when he's in so much pain — and it will only grow if he kept struggling against the knife. “It’s cute; you think you can order around.” The Alpha cursed. “It’s stinging.” He only made his pain worse when he decided to tug on the wound. Blood dripped from his elbow to the hardwood floor. Allison scrunched her nose at the mess. "Silver and arsenic all in one blade suppose to do that," Allison innocently blinked at him. "You have an hour tops before you start bleeding out on the floor.” The Alpha's eyes widened as he flicked his head from the hunter to the knife holding him hostage against the wall. Something flashed in his eyes, fear of dying perhaps. “If I were you, I would start talking.” "Okay, okay, I'll talk!" The Alpha hissed, wincing as he tried to meet her eyes. "They call him Alpha Reaper. He sent me. That’s all I know.” “What? Like Grim Reaper?” Kyle snorted at her joke but quickly looked away. “Only scarier.” She rolled her eyes. How amusing! Just when the hunter thought her life couldn’t get any more interesting. Why would anyone want to follow her? "Is that all you know?” “Yes! Now please help me.” “And what did he ask you to do?” The Alpha whimpered. “Scare you.” "He didn't tell you any more than that?" Allison was patient, watchful as a hawk, staring as the man blinked rapidly in her general direction. Something wasn’t adding up. "No, he didn't," The offensive Alpha rubbed the back of his uninjured hand to his nose. "I can tell when you are lying.” "I'm lying?" The Alpha scoffed. "Yes, you have been," She slowly stood up from her spot and took a step closer. Her hand trailed up his chest, to which the Alpha stiffened. "Your voice went up an octave, and you're blinking too much. And before you speak, you have been looking over to your right too much." “I-I...” “Trust me when I say I am not very patient. You can ask Kyle here.” She glared at the poor trainee, who dumbly nodded his head. The Alphas eyes widened as he watched her for a moment, biting his bottom lip as if he’s thinking over. Oh, she had him! Allison was smart enough to find out when they are lying. First-year training taught her that. Now in year three, she had mastered the technique. It's clear when the man gave in, unable to find another angle to attempt to lie from, not willing to lie and get caught again after all his life depended on it. She noticed as the hand attached to the wall twitched, his fingers going a faint shade of blue. “Alpha Reaper is coming for you.” She frowned at the name. Again who’s this Alpha? Unfortunately, Allison never heard of him before. No one in her circle mentioned it, not even in passing. “Is that supposed to scare me?” The Alpha glared at her. “How are you not scared? Every human he's crossed paths with has begged to be spared by him." “Empty threats don’t scare me. And especially when they come from a coward like your boss. And you can tell him I said that." “Huh?” The Alpha gawked at her as if she had grown another head. Allison appeared more on the delicate side, with long hair, a skinny figure, long shapely arms and a dainty face. Her features were soft, attractive enough to lure the humans and wolves alike—no wonder she gets away with murder no less. Her charming face and pouty lips would deceive only fools. She had the edge every leader did, ripping the knife from the Alphas hand without flinching. Blood didn’t scare her anymore. The Alpha didn’t have time to recover from yer sudden move before she held his by his wrists. He couldn’t pick a fight even if he wanted to, all thanks to her knife skills. Also, the silver. It always helped. She asked Kyle to open the back door leading to the stairs of the lawn. From there, he was independent to take any road. Allison pushed him out of the room, making him stumble along with the steps. "Y-you're just gonna let him go?" Kyle stuttered, still maintaining distance from the injured man. “We don’t have any use of him now.” The Alpha chuckled. “You must be an i***t then.” “Don’t you worry that tiny brain of yours. I already took care of you.” "Took care of me?" The Alpha snarled, which turned into a coughing fit. His entire body shook, trembling as he tried to hold his ground. Allison watched as the man turned red from the effort to clear his lungs. The hunter hummed, a smirk forming on her lips. "Yes, I have. That metal in the knife will take care of you from now on. You have enough time to return to Alpha Reaper and deliver my message before you die." “B-But you...” “Did you think just because you told me what I wanted to know that you got to live? Now, who’s the i***t here?” His knees nearly buckled as he swayed, trying to grasp, but she shut the door on him. It took her a moment of silence before she realised that her work was done. From the peephole, she observed the Alpha run until he disappeared among the mist. *** Kyle shut the door behind while Allison strode down the hallway and into a study room. The minute she walked, her father raised his brow; mouth pulled together. Adam Cohen was not a man of many words, simply choosing to use his expressions to communicate. The light in the room cast a soft glow on his face as he leaned back on the couch. A glass of whiskey was placed on the table, which he motioned towards her. “How was the interrogation?” “Fine” She slumped down, throwing her legs over the coffee table. The disdain on Adam's lips was evident, but she chose to ignore it. “Did he say something?” The hunter averted her eyes, staring at her reflection. She swallowed the lump in her throat, remembering those words by the Alpha. “Nothing useful. Only that he was drunk and wanted to get frisky.” Her father let out a sigh. “Still, you shouldn’t have let him go.” Allison shrugged. “Eh, he’ll die soon anyway. What’s the point of keeping him here?” “Fair point.” Adam poured a glass for her, and she greedily accepted, feeling guilt rise in her chest. The hunter was lying through her teeth, afraid of worrying her father. How long can she keep that up? The main question was who’s this Alpha Reaper, and why was he coming for her? *** So the first part is done! I will put up my April updating schedule soon in the f******k group.
