“If you kill her, the curse is dead with her.”
The masked man said it so casually I couldn't believe what I had heard for a moment.
Then Kael’s head jerked around to face him.
“What did you say?”
The thing beneath the splintered floor lowered its great head.
"Kill her," the masked man repeated. “Before the bond is complete.”
My heart thudded in my chest.
Kael moved in front of me.
"Nope."
The man in the mask chuckled softly.
“You still don't get it, Alpha.”
“I know enough.”
Kael's claws grew longer.
“Leave her alone.”
The way he said it made my chest clench.
Not the words.
Cause he did.
The creature snarled.
Dust rattled off the ceiling with the sound.
He can't look out for you forever.
I looked at it.
"Then tell me what you are.
