Chapter 14: comforting hugs

It was night already. In the afternoon Kyle showed me the mansion I was living in now. He introduced me to the workers, he told me they usually stay in the morning to clean and cook for the rest of the day, but today they made an exception. He also gave me some private time which I spent buying clothes online now that I was going to live here for a while. I also asked Sophie if she could send me some of my stuff here. I asked her how was Liam doing as he didn’t answer my call, but she told me she hasn’t heard from him. The last thing she knew was that he was going to convince Parker to be his Beta.

Kyle came in not before knocking on the door.

-Hi, my assistant bought you some pajamas for tonight and some clothes. He is a guy but I think he asked his wife for help. If you want, we can find you a girl assistant.

-Oh thanks, I ordered some clothes too and Sophie will come in a couple of days to bring me some of my personal belongings.

-Good. I set up another computer in the room next door. I have a meeting early in the morning. We will be close enough and I will try not to wake you up when my alarm rings. I tried to move the meeting to later in the morning but I couldn’t.

I was trying to pay attention but I have to admit that the tight shirt he was wearing and the grey joggings were distracting me.

-Don’t worry I won’t hear the alarm from another room either.

-Oh, that’s not what I meant.

-Sorry, what do you mean?

-Well, uhm…these days as the doctor suggested I slept in the same bed as you.

-WHAT? You have been sleeping next to me these past days?

-Yup. And I’m still going to do so

-I’m fine that won’t be necessary.

-I’m not going to take the risk.

-I will – I insisted – don’t worry.

- None of us will. And that’s it. You can go and change in the bathroom.

- But you will keep the hands away from me.

- Unless you start feeling worse I will.

-What do you mean?

-When you were asleep, during the night your vitals used to drop, so I had to hug you… without a shirt, so you could smell me and feel my body better.

-That’s creepy as hell

-What? Hugging a person that looks almost dead? Yes. You are welcome. Now, if you don’t mind, I need to wake up early tomorrow.

- Apparently, not only you – I said grabbing the bag where I guessed was the pajama.

While I was putting on my pajama I couldn’t stop thinking of what was going to happen. I know it’s not a big thing sleeping with a person in the same bed, even if he is a guy. But the bond that connects us doesn’t understand that we are trying to get to know each other. The attraction is real, even if I’m not sure if he had forgiven him of what he did to me, and my brother. Although what he said this morning while we were eating kind of explains the way he acted, and he said sorry… Have I forgiven him? Maybe…But I’m still don’t want to leave my pack. I already miss them.

I finished putting on the pajama. It was cute, light blue, made of sating, long trousers and straps.

Kyle

I was setting up the alarm when Eleonor came out of the bathroom.

-Okay let’s go to bed. Say thank you to your assistant, I like the pajama.

I think that’s what she said, I wasn’t listening. My eyes were focused on the way she looked. How nice she looks with that, very feminine, sweet, cute but also hot. Tonight wasn’t going to be like the rest of the nights. I was going to keep my promise to keep my hands away but, the temptation is real.

-Kyle?

-Yes, sorry. Go to sleep. Yeah, sure.

- Are you okay?

-Yeah, I guess I’m tired.

I turned off the lights and lay on the bed. I could feel Ely moving from one side to another, till her breath became deeper. So I guess she was asleep. Knowing she was able to sleep I relaxed and fell asleep too. I don’t know how long we had been sleeping till I heard Ely complaining.

-Are you okay?

-It hurts, just suddenly. It started aching.

I hugged her with one arm and moved closer to her, putting my chin in front of her forehead

-It’s okay, where does it hurt?

-My neck. – And then I notice her hand on her mark.

-Let me touch it.

-No, it’s okay. I’ll be fine. Go back to sleep.

-Nonsense. Come on let me touch the mark.

-No…agh - she complained because of the pain.

She was sweating, tense in a fetal position. I took off my shirt and hugged her again. Slowly she started to relax her body and calmed down. But I could see she was still in pain because she wouldn’t stop touching the mark. I feel so f*cking bad. She wouldn’t be in pain if it wasn’t for me. Although I’m sure she wouldn’t be in my bed if I hadn’t bitten her.

I moved my hand trying to touch the mark, but she didn’t let me.

-Please Ely, I won’t cross any line. I don’t want you to be in pain. Please, let me try, trust me.

She didn’t say a word, but she slowly moved her hand away letting me touch the mark. I could feel a higher temperature than in the rest of the body. I started to rub it carefully till I notice she was completely calm and relaxed.

I kiss ¡ed her forehead. Maybe that was crossing the line but I did it without thinking. Again, she didn’t say a word.

-Better? – I said.

She nodded.

-Thank you, you were right.

-About what?

-Sleeping together.

I just smiled.

-Can we stay like this? Just in case.

-Sure.

She put her hands on my chest and quickly fell asleep again. I stood awake a little bit longer. Thinking how lucky I was, even though things weren’t going as I planned, as I thought they will go. I still felt lucky, lucky to have found my mate, lucky that she was my mate, and lucky that she was here with me. Please don’t go, Ely, don’t leave me too. Don’t break my heart.

Eleanor

I woke up thinking of what happened yesterday night. I honestly didn’t think I would be in pain as long as I’m close to Kyle. He wasn’t with me on the bed anymore, I guess he was on his meeting.

I stood up, took a shower, and put on the clothes Kyle’s assistant bought me.

I went downstairs to the kitchen, I was still getting used to the huge mansion. I also forgot the cleaners would be there, and the cooker too. He asked me what I wanted for breakfast which I didn’t know what to answer. I’m used to opening the cupboard and choosing whatever I saw first. But he told me we could cook anything I wanted, so I let him choose.

I was waiting in the dining room when I heard the doorbell. I heard the housekeeper talking to the guy who rang the doorbell.

-Alpha is busy.

-I know I know, he has a meeting. I will wait. Oh, can you ask the cooker to make me an omelet, I love them!

-Sure Sir.

-Thank you, Denise.

Then he came into the dining room where we looked at each other for 5 seconds.

-Hi – I said a little bit shy. I had no idea who he was. But clearly, he has been here plenty of times.

-Oh, hi. You must be the reason why Kyle hasn’t left his house this week. – He said with a smile on his face.

-I guess.

- I’m Darren,  Omega.

-Please to meet you, I’m Eleanor.

-Our Luna.

-I…I wouldn’t say so.

-Got it.

- Shouldn’t you be in the meeting too?

-Thankfully Kyle didn’t ask me to assist. – He made a gesture like he was thankful to the goddess.

-Sorry about keeping Kyle away from his duties.

- Oh no dear. THANK YOU! We don’t miss him at the office. You can’t keep him here haha

-I thought you two were friends.

-Oh, so he told you about me? I’m flattered. Yes, we are. But have you ever worked with a friend?

-I used to work with my brother.

-How did that work?

-I, suspended him for not following my instructions and for threatening your alpha.

-I see. So basically, you are like Kyle. God have mercy on us. We don’t need a female Kyle.

-Sorry for defending your alpha. – I said sarcastically.

-As far as I know, MY ALPHA was holding your brother by the neck.

-True. And I kicked him out.

- Brave. I have to admit I’m kind of jealous, I never had the chance to do so.

-And you will never have the chance. – Said Kyle coming into the room. – Good morning, Ely did you have breakfast?

-The chef is cooking it.

-Good.

-Hey!! What’s up Alpha? – Darren stood up and hugged Kyle clapping his back strongly.

- Just finished the meeting, if you keep missing them I’ll have to find a new Omega.

I looked at Darren, I thought he said Kyle didn’t ask him to assist. Darren looked back at me.

-He lied to you, didn’t he? – Kyle asked.

The food I arrived. The chef made me some exotic juice, toast with guacamole and some fruit salad.

-Who? Darren? No, he wouldn’t dare. – I said.

-True – Said Darren with his mouth full. – I’ve heard how she kicked your brother’s ass in the arena. He is still recovering from that. I don’t want the same.

-Really? He looked fine.

-I mean his pride.

-Oh, sure…

I could see Kyle looking at both of us, getting along and kind of jocking one to another.

-Darren, have you finished? – asked Kyle.

-Yup.

- did you enjoy the food?

-Yes sir.

-Then go and say thank you to the chef.

-What?

Kyle then just looked at him. He was clearly saying “go” with his eyes.

-Oh, yeah sure. I’ll go and say thank you to him- And then he winked at him.

Kyle stood up and came closer to me.

-Did you like the breakfast?

-Yeah, it was delicious.

-Sure?

-Yeah.

He took my hand and made me stand up.

-Are you feeling okay? – he asked almost whispering- do you want to call a doctor?

-No, I’m fine, don’t worry.

-Are you sure? It’s okay if you need to get checked.

-Yeah, don’t worry.

We then look at each other’s eyes. He was still holding my hand. I remembered the walk in the forest. The run. The sparks I felt when we dance at Parker’s wedding. When he had lunch on the bed yesterday. When he kissed my forehead making me feel better. Wait, are we going to kiss? But Darren interrupted talking to us from the corridor.

-Have you finished? Can I come in? Or do you want me to leave?

-Leave – kyle said, but at the same time I said “come in”.

- I’ll come in then

Kyle sighed and let go of my hand.

-Are you disobeying your alpha?

-No, I’m following my Lun…my new friend’s order.- And he put a big smile on his face.

-Why are you here by the way?

-What? I missed you, bro. Can’t someone visit his friend because he hasn’t seen you in a week? Come on let’s go for a walk.

-I need to stay with Ely.

- Well – I said – the doctor said a walk would help me recover.

Then Kyle looked at me. I guessed he wanted to stay alone with me.

-See Alpha? She needs fresh air. Have you shown her our beautiful forests?

-No – Kyle said. – And you are Right Ely. So, we will go for a walk in the forest and you Darren will go back to work.

I laughed. Darren’s face turned from a happy one to a disappointed one.

-Okaaaay, I’ll leave you both alone. I can feel the s****l tension between you.

Kyle growled.

-I’m leaving! Please to meet you, Luna! – and Darren run to the door.

-Sorry about that.

-it’s okay. He is funny. It’s still weird. I’m so used to being called Beta that Luna sounds weird.

-I hope one day if someone calls you Beta, you find it weird. – He held my hand.- Come on, let's go.
