From Beta to Luna, an Alpha's love

Chapter five: don't touch my mate.

Kyle

I didn’t realize I was standing up looking at her. But there was something I didn’t quite understand. So I turned to look at Claire who had a funny look on her face staring at me.

-Everything alright?- She asked.

-Yeah…Why wouldn't-

- Don’t lie. What is going on?- She interrupted me

-It's just…curious that she is a woman

-So?

-No that’s great, I saw her last dinner.- Sh*t the last dinner, she was sitting next to the Omega, so are they together?- Isn’t she the Omega partner?

I didn’t say mate because clearly, she is not! I am her mate and it was pissing me off that she was with another man.

-What?- Claire said.- You should study the high positions of the other packs. They are twins, don’t you see they look alike?

That calmed me down but the gong sounded and there I realized that my brother and my mate were about to fight each other. Josh shifted first, and with a smile on her face, she shifted too. Her wolf is really big!

-What a she-wolf! – shortly after I realized what I did just say, so I clear my throat and look at Claire who was trying to figure out what was happening.- What did they say her name was?

- Do you mean your girl’s name?-she said raising an eyebrow

- I mean the girl our brother is going to break in two.- I answered.

-I wouldn’t be so sure about it.- Mark said

My eyes were back on the ring where my mate was pushing Josh with her paws.

Josh got up quickly from the ground and the two fought to stand on two legs. She was a little bigger, so Josh took the opportunity to bite one of the front legs. I clenched my fist, he was hurting my mate! But I had to cover it up, I'm not sure why because at some point they'll find out. She moaned in pain but took the opportunity to bite the back of Josh's neck, causing him to lose his balance and she ended up on top of him. She stood on top of him, I’m sure his ribs must hurt. Josh finally managed to free himself from her grip and pushed her away from him. They began to move in a circle planning how it was going to be their next attack. She began to move and attack the ground faster and faster, pulling Josh closer to the line that limited the field. Josh realized he didn't have much room to move back so he ran over to her. She also ran to meet him but at the last moment, she turned to kick him with her hind legs in the muzzle like a horse. Josh was disoriented, he started shaking his head but it was too late. She grabbed him by the back of his neck with her mouth and pulled him off the perimeter, slamming him against the wall like a sack.

Claire gasped, and I didn’t know how to feel. I was crossed because Josh lost so I was afraid our pack would look weak. But I was happy she was safe.

-Beta Josh is out of the perimeter.- Alfa Parker announced.- Beta Eleonor is the winner.

Eleonor, I thought, what a beautiful name. She came closer to where we were and shifted to her human form. The stands were still chanting and applauding her victory. She made gestures to the one I was glad to know was his brother. He threw her a small bottle of water that she was about to open. Just then I saw Josh running towards her. Without hesitation, I jumped off the stands and got in his way barely a meter away from her. Josh came to a halt when he saw my disapproving face. The entire room was quietly watching the scene attentively.

- Thanks, but I don't need anyone to defend me.- She said staring at me. She turned around and left.

And there I was, trying to understand what just happened. I thought to myself. YOU HAVE TO BE JOKING. THOSE ARE THE FIRST WORDS I HEAR YOU SAY?! And how come you don't die for my scent? How come it doesn't shock you that we're so close? Are you pretending you don't know? Is there another boy I should ask myself about? Are you sure that guy is just your brother? Please tell me that you are not in an incestuous relationship.

-Let’s go.- I looked at Josh, still with a disapproving face.

Eleonor

The fights are over and I was very happy with the result. I showed everyone firsthand that they shouldn't take me lightly and that I can beat another beta. Except for that alpha, I had already realized that his beta was coming for me, which by the way shows a clear lack of sportsmanship. It bothered me because it seemed like he was doing it because I hadn't realized it, and he was wrong. Maybe he should educate this Josh guy a little better. I shook my head trying to get that thought out of my head because the beta race was about to start.

-Eleonor?

I turned around and I saw Josh behind me.

-Yes?

- I wanted to say sorry for what happened before. I’m never like that. You fought well.

-Thank you. And don’t worry. No hard feelings.- We shook hands and I gave him a polite smile.

We all finished warming up and we got to our posts. Alpha Parker blew the whistle and we all ran off shifting to our wolf. I ran like never before, I loved running in my wolf form, even though my constipation prevented me from breathing well. I kept running, overtaking some betas including Josh. I said no hard feelings, but I am very competitive and I wasn't going to let him win. I also overtook beta Roger from the Red Claw pack. There was only one more beta in front of me and I could already see the finish line. A little more and I will win the silver medal, I said to myself. Just a couple more strides. But then I notice how a great weight on me and some ... FANGS? I tripped and fell to the ground, creating a multiple falls of several wolves behind me. I moved my body and pushed with my back legs the wolf that had bitten me and prevented me from winning. Beta Roger?!

-What the f*ck you think you are doing?!- I said while I shifted

- Prevent something that shouldn´t happen.- He replied.

-What? Me winning you?

- A woman representing a beta position.

- I growled. Without realizing it, we were no longer just surrounded by the betas, but by many spectators who had even descended from the stands. Including our Alphas. I took a deep breath so as not to jump into his jugular in front of everyone.

- Well, instead of living in prehistory, maybe you should train more so that no beta can beat you. Be it a woman or a man. Of all of us, the only one who shouldn't be beta is you and your prejudices. - I answered him back. I was done having to deal with this kind of things. I looked at Alpha River. – I think you should leave.-

Beta Roger was about to speak again, surely, he was continuing to say nonsense. But Alpha River raises his hand making him stop. He looked at Alpha Parker who nodded in approval of what I said.

-Thanks for having us Blue Moon Pack.- Alpha River looked at his beta.- Let’s go Roger.

Not even a freaking ‘sorry’?! I thought. Who are these people?!

-Tsk.- I turned around making my way out.

-We can repeat.- said the alpha who was first.

-Don’t worry, congratulations. - I smiled at him. That was a really nice thing to say and I appreciated it. But I wasn´t focused to participate again so I left.

Kyle

We arrived at our hotel, the way back was really quiet and I enjoyed it, but I had to talk to Josh.

-Let's go to my room.- I said.

We went in and I said.

-What the f*ck were you thinking when you went to attack her again?

-Hey I already said sorry to her.- I glared at him.

-Do you know how you made us look? You know better.

-I know but for one second, I was annoyed that…that a woman beat me.

-And what if she is a woman?- Claire and I said at the same time.

-Plus.- said Claire.- that’s not the way to think about your future Luna.

-WHAT?! What did you say?- Said Josh with a really open mouth. I was glaring at Claire. When did she realize? And why did she have to say it?

- How long have you been keeping the secret? - She asked and I sighed.

- I know she was here the day we arrived, I just found out it was her this morning.- there was no point hiding it any longer.

-Dude.- said josh.- are you sure? She didn’t look at you as her mate.

-I’m sure she is my mate, but I don’t know what’s going on in her head.

-Well just a little advice.- josh continued talking.- don’t get into a fight with her, she is strong as f*ck.- I didn’t find it funny to be honest but Josh, Claire, and Mark laughed.

- You both need to talk to see what is happening. - Mark said. He is a quiet guy but wise. And he was right.

-I’m sure I’ll see her tomorrow at the wedding

-And can you wait that long?- Said Mark putting a hand on Claire's waist. He was right, again, I wanted to see her. To know about her. To comfort her about what happened during the race.

-How can I find her before the wedding?

-Josh, if Kyle was about to get married tomorrow, what would you be doing the night before?- Claire asked.

-Well, I’m not sure, Kyle getting married is hard to believe.-I growled.- BUT, If I had been through what she’s been through this morning…I would go out for a drink.

Eleanor

I went out of the shower that helped me calm down. I took my phone and ignore all the text messages I received asking how I was. I search for Sophie’s chat and texted her.

-*Drinks at 8?*

-*Sure*
