From Beta to Luna, an Alpha's love

Chapter seven: the wedding.

It was such a crazy day since early in the morning and I was so tired. I couldn’t sleep last night. I just couldn’t believe everything that happened yesterday. I found my mate. MY MATE! And he is an Alpha, from another pack… I have no idea what is going to happen after this, how is this going to work out, do I want it to work out? I just can’t believe it. Why now? Why him? I always heard he is pretty lonely, rude, and aggressive. And yesterday he proved one of those things. I hope Marc is fine…I hope I’ll be fine.

I was busy most of the morning making phone calls, sorting out last-minute things, and getting ready myself. I’m so nervous, this is a huge event! And lots of different packs are here to judge, to see how we do things here. And if that wasn’t stressful enough, he will be there.

I got out of the shower and I heard my doorbell.

-It's open, come in!- I said.

- HELLO! It’s the wedding day! Where are you girl?

-Hi Soph, I’m in my room getting dress.

-Good I brought the eyelashes that you asked for. Let’s get ready!

-Thank you, you are the best.

-I know I know. I proved it yesterday when I saved you.

-To be fair I was safe, it wasn’t me the one who was getting punched.

-Who knows what he was going to do after he was done with Henry.

Yesterday we had few minutes to talk about it before I called a taxi. But of course, Sophie wanted to talk more about it.

-I don’t know, if he is my mate he’s not meant to be capable to hurt me.

-Are you sure he is?

-Sophie I felt it, I could even smell him a little bit.- said while I put my emerald long dress on.

- I love your dress, the flow it has is beautiful.

-Thank you.- I said with a wide smile.

-So, dress to impress?

-Shut up! I bought this dress months ago.

- I know but that neckline is really tempting, even to me!

-Hahahaha, oh Soph, thanks for making me laugh.

We kept getting ready, doing each other’s makeup and hair. Sophie chose a light pink dress and straight hair while I chose to highlight my natural hair waves. We arrived at a beautiful palace full of white flowers and huge windows. They gave me the job to welcome the guests with Liam because Parker was in a hurry and will be a little bit late. GREAT.

We stayed by the arc of the entrance of the palace shaking everyone’s hand and welcoming them.

-I’ve heard about yesterday.- Liam whispered to me barely opening his mouth.

-Welcome Alpha Harry, Luna Megan, you look lovely.- I said with a smile.- Thanks for coming.

I waited till they went in to answer.

-Who told you?Alpha?

-Yes. Really Ely? Couldn’t you tell me?

-I was about to do it today, I didn’t see the hurry.

-Not a hurry to tell your twin, but yes to your Alpha?

-I don’t know what is going to happen today. It's his day and I thought he should know.

-Did you kiss?

-What? No!- Of course I didn’t tell Parker about the fight, I didn’t want to put Kyle in trouble. I just told him we found out yesterday and he was pretty possessive.- Beta Joshua, Thank you for coming, I hope you enjoy the ceremony.

-So, what are you going to do? He is an Alpha.

-Thanks Liam, I didn’t know that.- I said with sarcasm.- I…I don’t know. Being a Luna means giving up my Beta position. You know how much I like being a beta.

-I know that. And I don’t want you to leave. But it's kind of your fate, right? Maybe you can be a Beta-Luna?

- Has that happened before?

-No, as far as I know.

-Oh f*ck.- I said smelling the air.

-Oh here he comes…

Kyle arrived with his brother and who I think is his sister. They all looked at me like I was a kind of alien. All except Kyle who locked his eyes with me. The silence was really awkward.

-Welcome members of the Shaddy Forest Pack. I hope you enjoy the ceremony.- I said shaking Josh’s hand.

-I love your dress.- The girl said.

-Thank you.- I replied. And then it was Kyle’s turn.

-Welcome.- I said shaking his hand.-

-Thank you.- and after that, he kissed the back of my hand.

Oh my god! His lips just felt so good to be true. And it was only in the back of my palm. What kind of magic is this?

-Welcome.- Liam cleared his throat- Alpha Kyle.

-Thanks…- Clearly he wasn't happy about Liam's interruption.

They went inside, not before Kyle looked at me one more time. I tried to avoid doing that. But I saw it from the corner of my eye.

-Are you nuts? Don’t piss him off.

-Hey! I was trying to help, he was about to eat you alive with his eyes! And I’m your brother, he should know that.

-I’m sure he is aware of that, he just doesn’t care.

-Well he should.

The boring part of the wedding passed, although it was very emotional and I saw more than one tear. We officially have a Luna! But I couldn't help but think that if I follow the moon goddess will that should be me in a not long time. In a pack I hadn't grown up in, and with someone I met yesterday while punching the boy I was kissing. BUT WHY DOES IT SMELL SO GOOD?!

-Girl is just a fancy salad.- Sophie said.

-It’s not the salad that smells.

-At least you have your sense of smell back.-

-Yeah, nice timing. It’s just that I can’t focus on anything else.

-You will get used to it.- Sophie said trying to calm me down.

-Well he is meant to live tomorrow. So you won’t smell him.- Liam answered.

-Are you going with him?

-What? How I’m going to that Soph? I don’t know him. And Alpha is going to his honeymoon. So he will be away for two weeks.- I sighed- I just don’t get why me and why now.

We finished the dinner and luckily my back was facing Kyle so the temptation to look at him was lower. However, I could feel his eyes like knives pointing at me. Or maybe I’m just paranoid. Who knows?

It was time for the couple's first official dance, so we stood around the dance floor. They played their song and they started to dance. It was lovely, they were looking at each other with a sweet smile and I could see the love between them. Now it was time for other guests to join, and few Alphas joined with their Lunas.

-I hope one day that will be me.-

-Oh Sophie.- I said after I drink a little bit of my champagne.- You will be the most beautiful bride one day.

But Sophie didn´t answer, she was looking at the bottom of her cup of glass. She raised her head to talk to me but she didn’t stare at me, she was looking at something behind me. I turned around and saw Kyle, he was looking at me with an expression I wasn’t able to read.

-Would you dance with me?- And he offered his hand. I looked at the dance floor. There were only 8 couples dancing, everyone will be able to see us and wonder what was happening. I looked back at Kyle.

-Sure…- WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? I said to myself. I put my hand on top of his and we started dancing. He held my right hand and put his right hand on my waist. I swallow hard. I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t know why I said yes. And mostly I don’t know if I’m ready for this!

- Eleanor I…

-Not now. No one should talk on the first dance.- I whispered. Kyle just nodded. He dances really well. I guess they taught him as they taught me. Ther are some etiquettes and manners an Alpha, Luna, Beta and Omega should know. We kept dancing, flowing, following the rhythm. I wasn’t brave enough to look at him. I was trying to get used to the sparks inside me. And I was trying not to care about the people looking at us. The music stopped, and everyone clapped. After that, they started playing more party songs and I suggested Kyle to go outside to talk. We founded a balcony where we could have some privacy.

-Eleanor about yesterday…

-Ely is fine.

-Ely, I…I’m sorry. I couldn’t control myself.- I just nodded, I wasn’t sure what to say. This situation was a little bit awkward.-It’s not the first impression that I wanted to cause you.

-It’s okay, I wouldn’t have liked it either if I were you.

Kyle

There she was. My other half, forgiving me, understanding me. And saying she would have felt jealous too if I had kissed a girl in front of her. Her possible jealousy made me feel good.

-Can I ask you, how didn’t you know?

-Oh, well. I was constipated. I wasn’t able to smell you since yesterday night and especially today. It’s pretty strong.

-I guess swimming in the river wasn’t a good idea.

-How do you know?

-I could smell you in the forest the day I arrived. I followed the track but you were already gone.

-Why didn’t you tell me?

-I didn’t know it was exactly you till yesterday when you fought again Josh. And I was confused because … it was like you were pretending not to know.

-I’m not that good actress.- she said with a half-smile on her face. I smiled too. How can I not? She is beautiful and her smile makes me happy.

-Ely, I know we just met but... Clearly, you are my mate. I’ve been smelling you since day one and when we touched yesterday. When we touch.- I said holding her hands.- What I’m trying to say is, please come to my pack, I can stay few days till you organize everything and...

-I…Kyle I.- she let go my hands.

-Do you have a boyfriend?

-No, do you have a partner?

-No, no!

-It’s not that. It’s that I can't just leave like that. I’m the Beta. And I love being it. My Alpha is leaving and someone has to stay. And…- she made a pause.

-And?

-Being your partner means…

-Become Luna.

-Yes.

-So? A Luna is more important than a Beta.

- I know. But still. I don’t think I want to be a Luna.- I heard like a huge glass breaking inside of me.

-What do you mean Ely?

-I mean that I’m not looking for being important or in a higher position. I’m looking to do something that I like. And I love being a Beta.

-But Josh

-I know. That’s why it’s complicated.- she was playing with a bracelet.- I know that it sounds crazy, that every girl wishes to become a Luna, but I fought so hard to be a Beta, and I still do, you saw what happened yesterday.

-They won’t do that when you are a Luna. Come on Ely, you are the daughter of an Alpha. You know the possibilities to be a Luna are higher.

-I know. And the chances to become a Beta were really low. And here I am. The Beta of a big pack.- she said really proudly.- giving that up will mean that all my efforts were for nothing. It will mean that they were right, I'm not meant to be a Beta.

-You already proved them wrong by becoming a Beta.- I paused for a few seconds.- Come with me. Let me show you my pack. Your future pack. There’s a reason why we are meant to be together. – I held her face with my hands.- Please, come with me tomorrow.- I was feeling desperate. How she could say no? This situation was hurting me. After I met my mate she doesn’t want to come with me? I want her. I don’t want any other woman as my Luna.- Please Ely.- I said putting my forehead against her. She took my hands and moved them away from her face.

-I can’t, they need me.

-Do they? Or do you need them to feel special?

-What? Kyle, come on, just give me…- I didn't hear the end of the sentence. I left the balcony. I was properly crossed with her. How does she dare to say no to me? To an Alpha? To her mate? This doesn’t end like this. I’m not going back to my pack without her. I’m not leaving her here with other guys that want to make out with her. SHE.IS.MINE.

-Josh! You are going back to the pack tomorrow with Mark.

-What?- Said Claire.

-You are staying with me. Call the hotel and let them know.

-Why?- Josh asked.

-I’m not sure how long I’m going to have to stay here.

-Kyle, can you please explain yourself a little bit better?

- It’s her. Ely. She doesn’t want to be a Luna.
