Chapter two
Shyla POV’s
Immediately he said those words, my face grew red in anger. Who does he think he is? What gave him the right to address me as a little girl?
“You’re the little boy, not me. Only a child would harass ladies and see it as fun,” I scoffed, and everyone around opened their mouths in awe.
“Did you just speak to the Alpha that way?” One of his boys said he walked to me but his boss raised his hand up and he walked back.
“Obviously I'm talking to you boss or Alpha whatever. If he's really powerful as you'll claim, he would fight people of his caliber and not bully young ladies,” I fired back and everywhere became quiet.
“You know, for a little girl you talk too much,” He said after a few minutes of silence.
“You must be dumb to think all ladies would let you step on them,” I replied and I made to leave, but two men approached me, their faces hard and unyielding. They moved towards me, and for a reason, I felt my heart pounding in my chest.
“What are you going to do?” I asked, trying to hide the fear In my voice. I thought after talking to him rudely, he’d let the ladies leave and he'd let me go also, guess I was wrong.
I shifted from them and made to leave again, but they blocked my path, their arms folded across their chests.
“Tell this moron of yours to leave me alone!” I half yelled, but there was no response from him.
I looked around, searching for a way out, but there was nowhere to go. I was trapped, and my fear increased when everyone started leaving the room one after the other, leaving me and the ladies alone with them.
“You ladies, party’s over, you can leave,” He said and the ladies hurriedly stood up and the ran out. I tried to leave also, not until I heard his voice. “Expect you,” I immediately halted on my track as if I was being compelled.
It then dawned on me that the people I was trying to protect didn’t give a damn about me, they all ran away, not caring if I’d be doomed.
He rose from his chair, his movements slow and graceful. He walked towards me, his gaze never leaving my face. I felt my heart hammering in my chest, and I tried to steady my breathing.
I bent my head down as I wondered why I felt myself drawn and attracted to him. I was scared thinking he’d hurt me, but something in my guts told me he wouldn’t, he wouldn’t lay even his tiniest fingers on me.
He stopped in front of me, I could feel his eyes all over me, but I was unable to see his gaze. I didn’t know what was happening but I knew I had to leave, I had to run back to my room, life out here was really complicated as aunt Succy explained.
“I don't know what you want from me. But leave me alone,” I said and he lifted his hand up to me and I hurriedly closed my eyes, thinking he’d hit me, but instead I felt a soft touch on my cheek. He gently cupped my chin, lifting my face to meet his eyes.
“Mate,” He mumbled and I stared at him weirdly.
“I couldn’t find you all these years, now you found me,” He added and my eyes widened.
Realizing dawned on me. I ran away from home just to find my mate, and if he’s my mate, then I’ve wasted my whole life thinking of someone who wasn’t even worth it.
I wouldn’t settle for a f*****g abuser and a woman beater. It’s a big no for me.
“It’s a big waste finding you after-all. I don’t need a mate,” I spelt it out to him and he laughed, while I thought he’d get mad and try to force himself on me.
“You think I’d want a loose mouth like you as my mate? Impossible!” He replied and I furrowed my brow.
“Like who wouldn’t want their mate? I could still recall how that man was all in love with his mate. How come this woman abuser is different?” I mentally thought and I shook my head, not wanting to talk much about it.
“If you don’t want me, then what’s the meaning of all this?” I asked and he rolled his eyes.
“I don’t want you, but I need you. You’d be coming with me,” He replied and I scoffed.
What’s wrong with him? Does he think I’m some crazy lady who’d just agree to go with him because he’s hot? Hell no! I’m more than that.
“You’re sick. I actually thought you were just a woman abuser, now it seems you’re stupid,” I replied and one of his minions rushed to me, but he still signaled for him to stop.
“I said you’re coming with me, I didn’t ask for your opinion on it,” He said and I furrowed my brows, waiting for him to explain further.
“You think I’d just let you go after the way you spoke to me? Hell no!” He stated and I smirked, having the perfect idea in my head.
“Catch me if you can!!” I quickly pulled away from him and I started running.
“After her!” He shouted and his men immediately went after me.
I ran towards the door. flung it open, and I dashed out into the night. I could hear the men shouting behind me, but I ignored them. I raced down the street, as fast as I could, releasing heavy breath. I turned a corner, and found myself in another corner.
I could hear the men's footsteps getting closer behind me, and I panicked. I didn’t know what he needed me for, but that wouldn’t be possible because I’d never let it happen.
I ran until my legs hurt, and my lungs ached. I turned to another corner and then another, desperately trying to lose the men who were chasing her. But they seemed to know every turn I was going to make, as if they were following me with some sort of magic. I guess they were more familiar with the area than I was.
I found myself slowing down, it was tiring, and I couldn’t keep up with the pace, my legs growing heavy and my breath coming in ragged gasps.
I tried to make another turn, but I froze in terror as I saw two men standing in front of me, blocking her path. I tried to run back but there were another two men standing there.
I was surrounded, with no way to escape. Even if I didn’t want to give up, I knew I was already done for.
I let out a long, shuddering breath, and I closed my eyes. The men walked to me, and they grabbed me, I didn't fight them, didn't even try to struggle. I had given up, resigned myself to whatever fate awaited me for now. The men led me away, as we walked back to the clubhouse.
Few hours later, we got back to the clubhouse and he smiled the moment he saw me.
“Little runaway princess is back,” He said and I scoffed.
“Why won’t you let me go? You said you don’t want me as your mate?” I struggled to say it because I was already damn tired.
“I also said I needed you,” He replied and I hissed.
“Do you think of me as a goods to be purchased?” I asked but he didn’t answer me, instead he spoke to his men.
“Get the car ready, we’re leaving,”
Some of his men left to do what he said, while others stood vigilantly, making sure I wasn’t up to another scheme.
“Let’s go,” He said and they dragged me along with them and we left the clubhouse.
