Chapter three Shyla POV’s I sat in the car, my head resting against the window. It was my first time sitting in a car. I’d have been so happy about it if I wasn’t in this situation. I watched buildings and streets which were blurred because of the dark cloud. I was tired and numb, and my body ached all over. I could hear the men talking in low voices, but I couldn't understand what they were saying. I didn’t like to be forced to do anything, and this man was just forcefully trying to force himself on me. “I said I don’t want to be your mate, let me out!” I yelled but no one replied to me. I’ve been on it for hours, asking them to let me go but they remained adamant. I knew I needed to come up with a new plan to escape them. I smiled at my own thoughts, knowing I had a tiny hint of escape from them. “Shouting is all you can do. If you never wanted any of this, you should have ignored everything that was going on, but you didn’t! It’s our destiny from the moon goddess,” He said and I rolled my eyes. “Destiny? Moon goddess? I’ve not even understood the part of how we’re mates, and now you’re saying something else?” I asked, a bit confused. “Talking to you is pointless,” He replied with a scoff. “How about you let me go then?” I asked, staring at him but he shook his head. “Never!” Now I knew I had to come up with plan B, since plan A failed. I reached up to my neck. I undid the clasp of my necklace, and let it slip through my fingers. I stared around, making sure no one was watching, and I smiled seeing everyone's eyes were focused on the road. I stared at the necklace and I slowly threw it outside the window and I screamed gaining everyone's attention. “My necklace, it just fell outside,” I said but he scoffed and his eyes went back to his phone. “My dad gave me that necklace, I can’t lose it,” I said and I faked crying, sniffing and crying loudly. “Hey! little girl, enough with this okay? I won’t buy it,” He stated and I mentally scoffed, but I knew I had to continue faking it. “My dad gave me that necklace as a keepsake from my late mum, and you think it’s fake? I wouldn’t risk my mum’s necklace for this rubbish!” I yelled and burst into another fit of tears. Well, I lied. Aunt Succy gave me the necklace, I just had to lie it was from my late mum so he’d believe. He kept quiet for a while then he said. “Hector, go find her necklace,” The car slowed to a stop, and I saw Hector trying to come down from the car. I knew this was my last chance and I couldn’t afford to misuse it. I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt, and I reached for the door handle. I gently pulled it open, making sure no one noticed. Without a moment's hesitation, I threw myself out of the car, and I landed hard on the rolled, rolling on the floor until I reached a dead end, “Arghhh!” I screamed in pain, but I knew I had to continue running when I saw the car stopped. They were definitely coming to capture me back. Despite the pain, I struggled to stand up. My whole body ached but I was finally able to stand and I started running. The chased hotly after me, I knew they’d get to me soon if I continued running, now I knew I needed to hide. This was the best I could do now. I saw a place that had bushes all over and I ran there, I squeezed inside not minding his harsh the bushes were as they scratch my skin. “Don’t get in there! It’s dangerous!” One of the men yelled but I paid deaf ears to him and I continued going further, not until I got trapped by a root, as I struggled to free myself, but I missed a step and I stumbled, falling over. I quickly covered my mouth and I let out a cry in a muffled breath. I felt myself rolling, my eyes turned and I suddenly hit my head on a stone. I try to cry out but I found myself not being able to shout. This time I wanted their help to save my life, but my voice betrayed me. I slowly closed my eyes and everything went blank. [Next Morning] The ray of sunshine pierced into my eyes and I slowly opened my eyes. I stared around and I was shocked to see I was back to my room. “What the heck happened,” I said and I tried to stand up, but all over my back hurts. I whimpered and I sat back on the bed. The door suddenly opened and my Dad walked in together with Aunt Succy. “You’re awake,” She said and she sat beside me while the anger in my Dad’s face was visible, but I didn’t want to talk about that. Obviously who wouldn’t be angry after what I did. “How the hell did I get back here?” I asked and she sighed. “Thankfully I came back to check on you but couldn’t find you in your room. I had to tell your Dad and we went searching for you,” She said and I could tell she was lying because she skipped the important part. Whatever reasons she did that, I didn’t want to know. “Why did you escape Shyla? You’ve seen the danger I’ve been protecting you from all these years?” He asked and I scoffed. “Are we really going in that direction Dad?” I asked and he said nothing. “I’ve spent 18 years of my life locked up by you and you say you’re protecting me? From what exactly? Who?” I asked. “Let it go Shyla,” Aunt Succy said and I glared at her angrily. “Dad… I just went out for the first time and I loved everything about it. Though I found my dangerous mate, I want to go out from now on. I don’t want to be that naive little girl anymore,” I said, more like pleading to him, but he didn’t even spare me a glance. “He’s no mate of yours Shyla, in-fact he’s your worst enemy. Someone who would kill you without sparing a glance,” He said and I stared at him confusedly. “Why will he kill me Dad? I was with him and he didn’t try to kill me even for a second!” I half yelled. “That’s because he doesn’t know who you are! He doesn’t know anything about you!” He yelled back at me and I flinched. “Dad?” I called in surprise, this was the first time I’d be seeing him this way. “Since you’ve proven to be stubborn. I’d have to keep you on guard, watching your every move. Let’s see how you’d leave this place again,” He said angrily. “Let’s see how long you’d keep me here Dad, let’s see if the thing you’re protecting me from doesn’t catch up with me,” I said, hoping he’d make me understand anything even for a bit. “It won’t, because I’d be doing what I’ve done of the years, making sure you never leave this place,” He replied and he stormed out of the room without waiting for my response. “Shyla, you shouldn’t have spoken to your Dad that way, he just saved your life,” She scolded. “Let be me, all you ever do is lie to me. Dad wants me to stay here forever and you aren’t doing anything about it,” I replied and I covered myself with the duvet. I finally realized that deciding to come back here was a big mistake. My Dad wants me here forever, but I don’t want this life for myself. Not anymore. “I don’t care if he brings his bodyguards to watch over me. I’m going to escape in any way I can,” I thought and I smirked.
