The door opened.
Elena walked inside.
Serena stared at her.
“You?”
Elena looked at Damian.
“We need to leave.”
Damian frowned.
“Why should I trust you?”
“Because Victor is telling the truth.”
Victor nodded.
“She helped me survive.”
Elena looked at Serena.
“I knew your families were being manipulated.”
“By whom?” Serena asked.
Elena’s expression became serious.
“Damian’s uncle.”
Damian froze.
“My uncle died years ago.”
“No.”
Elena shook her head.
“He didn’t.”
“What?”
“He disappeared after the fire.”
Damian couldn’t breathe.
His entire life had been built on a lie.
“My father told me he was dead.”
“He wanted you to believe that.”
Serena looked at Damian.
“What are we going to do?”
Damian took her hand.
“We expose the truth.”

Damian immediately confronted his father.
“You lied to me.”
His father’s face became pale.
“What are you talking about?”
“Victor Hale.”
Silence.
“And Uncle William.”
His father slowly sat down.
“You don’t understand.”
“I understand enough.”
“You were a child.”
“I am not a child anymore.”
His father covered his face.
“Your uncle wanted the company.”
“So you blamed the Bennetts?”
“I was trying to protect you.”
“You destroyed an innocent family.”
His father looked at Serena.
“I am sorry.”
Serena’s eyes filled with tears.
“For twenty years, my family carried your hatred.”
Damian turned away.
His father whispered,
“William is still alive.”
Damian looked back.
“Where?”
His father gave him an address.
But before Damian could leave, his phone rang.
An unknown number.
He answered.
A man’s voice spoke.
“You should have left the past alone.”
Damian’s eyes narrowed.
“William?”
The caller laughed.
“Tell your beautiful wife goodbye.”
The call ended.
Damian immediately looked at Serena.
She was gone.
