"What happened to Winter? Why was she bleeding?"
I awoke due to the high-pitched voice of whoever was around. The first thing I felt was a stomach ache as if I'd been pounded a few times, which made me recollect what happened in Nathaniel's penthouse.
"Winter!" Isabelle said as she noticed me awaking. I can tell who's producing that loud noise now. It was none other than my lovely best friend who looked so concerned.
"What happened?" I inquired, still bewildered.
She puffs some air, as though she is stressed. "You were bleeding—you almost had a miscarriage."
What? My brain wasn't able to process what was being said. A certain barrier was blocking my mind from understanding her point.
"What did you say, Isabelle?"
"You almost had a miscarriage," she reiterated in a low tone.
