My first love

Chapter 2 - The flight

It took me about a half hour to go through security, then I had about another half hour before I had to get on the plane. I went to the bathroom and grabbed drink and a snack from the gift shop quick.

It was now time to board the plane, so I headed to the boarding area. Once there I gave the attendant my ticket, and she waved me through. I went in and found my seat, putting my bag into the overhead compartment. I sat down and buckled up, we only had about 10-15 minutes until takeoff.

It wasn't a very big plane, it held maybe 50 people in total. Next to me was a girl that looked about my age, she had wavy blonde hair and blue eyes, she was wearing blue jeans and a baggy sweater.

The safety attendant went through all the emergency measures with us to make sure that everyone knew what to do. When she was finished it was time for takeoff.

I felt the plane picking up speed as we made our way down the runway. The girl next to me looked over and smiled nervously.

"Is this your first time on a plane?" I asked her.

" Ya, you call tell can't you?" she replied.

"A little bit, you just look a bit nervous. Don't worry flying isn't to bad." I said. "I'm Mia, are you going to the university of BC?" I asked.

"I'm Lisa" she said. "Ya I am going there, I take it that you are too?" she asked

"Ya I am, its my first time going so far away from home." I said.

"Same here." she said. "I've never really been away from my family, at leave not this far anyway."

"I totally understand. It can be a bit nerve racking at first." I said. "Since we're going to the same place, you can stick with me if you want to." I said, even though I didn't think that she would, so I was surprised when she replied.

"I would love that." She still looked a bit nervous but seemed happy at the same time. To my surprise she continued with "I wasn't very popular at my old school."

"Really? But you are so pretty." I said which made her blush. "I wasn't very popular either, I guess the popular kids didn't like that I didn't want to show off my body" I said with a shrug.

"I totally understand that. I'm the same way." she said. "I'm glad that I get to have a new start where I can be who I want to be." she continued.

"Me too" I said. "I would love to be a bit more comfortable in my skin, and with who I am."

We continued to talk through out the whole flight just getting to know eachother better. She had a brother that was older then her, he had finished university and was an architect. Her dad was a layer, and her mom was a doctor.

I told her all about my family too, how I have 2 sisters, my older sister Rose who was also in university, and my little sister Kate. That my dad was also a doctor, and my mom was a teacher.

Before we knew it a few hours had passed and we were about to land. The landing was a bit bumpy but good.

Once we landed we stood up and grabbed our bags exiting the plane. As we headed out of the airport to start our new adventure we headed over to the taxi stand and decided to share a car to campus. things seemed to be getting off to a pretty good start.
