Cassie stood in front of the full-length mirror, unsure whether to scream or cry. The custom gown Luke’s stylist had delivered earlier that day shimmered like liquid starlight. It hugged her curves in all the right places, the soft silver fabric catching the light with every small movement. The neckline dipped just enough to be daring but not inappropriate. A slit ran up her right leg, revealing strappy heels and just a whisper of skin. Her hair had been swept into elegant waves and her makeup was expertly done, accentuating her eyes and cheekbones in ways she never thought possible. She didn’t look like herself. She looked like someone who belonged next to Luke Hudson. Kate would have lost her mind if she’d seen her now. Cassie gave herself a moment to adjust. To breathe. To remember
