Cassie had just stepped out of the shower, her damp curls tucked into a towel, when she heard the elevator chime. She froze, water droplets still clinging to her skin, unsure if she was expecting anyone. Luke was at a board meeting scheduled to run late into the afternoon. His assistant hadn’t called. There were no deliveries scheduled. She quickly slipped into a robe and padded down the hallway toward the living room. And then she heard a voice. Familiar. Firm.
