ARIA'S POV
I wonder how Kael's gonna react when he knows I'm pregnant for him. But I really can't move on like everything's fine if he rejects me again. Nah!
It has always been a rule in Nightshade pack; the Alpha must get married to his mate. The only condition that rules out that law is if the Alpha's mate is not able to produce an Alpha's heir earlier than the other lady. Lyra! Mate snatcher!
Mate? I'm his mate. His heir? I have them in my womb, two of them. Axel was only trying to discourage me from meeting him because he seemed to have started developing an interest in me.
Interest? Yes, his gaze, how he calls my name. It says it all. I feel like I'm into him also, but my heart is still with Kael.
Yes. With Kael.

After stretching out, I wore harem pants on a bustier top and pulled my hair into a braid. Then I was off to cleaning the room before bathing.
Axel yawned as he came in shirtless, taking in my fresh morning look. I knew he wanted to ask where I got the dress, but he hesitated. His gaze drifted towards the window.
After having a princess bath, I mopped my wet hair with a towel and pulled it up in a ponytail. I was observing the bags under my eyes when the door opened.
It was quite obvious that I was startled as Axel smirked at me. Duh! He looked so calm, seemed like he was expecting someone.
A slick, mustachioed gentleman with an Italian look strode in along with a dark-haired English man. Their looks were rough even though they were still handsome. They looked like serial killers.
"Saremo al confine. 4 ore." The first guy said something that seemed like gibberish. I guess it was italic.
Axel just replied with a smile and they both walked out without a backward glance. They were no gentlemen at all. Weirdos!
Axel's a whizz at reading someone's mind through his face. He turned over to me with his little boy-grinning smile, "We'll be at the border. 4 hours. That's what he said."
That's it! I'm not too dumb to be oblivious of what's going on here. He's trying to leave the pack finally, against Kael's wishes. I perceive bloodshed.
I overcame my natural indifference and asked with great frankness, "Have you thought of what would happen if this fails?" He was not surprised I had grasped a straw of what was going on.
He was unusually silent and looked glum. "My plan is too good to fail. And if the unexpected happens, we have a plan B." He was too confident in his words. I nodded, but said nothing.
Yeah, I know within myself that I had started developing some feelings for him due to the few moments we spent. But the fact that there's still a chance to get marked by Kael, I wasn't thinking deeply about him.
He prowled about the small room. I guess there was something he wanted to tell me. His dark eyes gazed into mine, giving me that familiar feeling of uneasiness, almost as he was peering at me through the sights of a rifle.
I was deep lost in his eyes. He wrapped his arms around me. I felt the heat of his touch and didn't want that to vanish. Not now! Not ever!
Axel leaned toward me and pressed his lips on mine, and I felt the thrill I had missed my one-night love with Kael. His hand roamed over my body, but I gave no resistance. At a critical moment, a knock came on the door.
Gosh! End of the game!
Axel took a breath. "Who--- who is it?"
I pulled away from him, straightening my dress. They were two, different from the other rough guys. They stood facing Axel as he took his seat by the window.
Appearing nonchalant. They both lit a long, cylindrical cigarette.
The taller guy presented an opened silver case lined with a dozen of cigarettes. Axel declined. He watched as they both puffed contentedly.
He glanced about the room. He gasped as he noticed I was still in the room, watching the scenery that unfolded right in front of me.
He took me by my wrist, off to the kitchen. I winced a little as his hold was a little bit harsh. "It had been announced. Kael's installment as the Alpha will come up tomorrow."
That fast?
I felt like all my energy had been drained off me. I rest my back on the cabinet where utensils are kept. "Ka... Kael... who would he take as his Luna?" I forced the words out.
Why did I have to ask that question?
My question had put him in a vile mood. He was vigorous some moments ago.
He walked up to me, a frown hovering on his lips. "Don't be such a wuss! You'll just let him use and discard you anytime he feels like. He doesn't love you at all." I needed no one to preach that to me. I just didn't want to bring myself to accept the fact that my mate does not want me.
Deep in my confused thoughts, I fingered the strands of hair around my neck. I thought of the two weeks I had spent in the dank, dingy cell. Who was behind that? Did Kael hate me that much that he wanted to see me die slowly?
Axel smiled, revealing white teeth seeming even more bright against his fair skin. "Tomorrow will be a great day. I hope the rest of the evening is uneventful." He mused. He stopped momentarily as he caught me in the corner of his left eye staring at him in a confused state.
He offered a tentative smile of reassurance; probably to let me know he was okay, which he wasn't. It's palpable that he wasn't.
As he opened the door to go back to his visitor, I caught his arm and he turned back, "Can you do me a favor tomorrow?" His left eyebrow furrowed swiftly.

I slept only for an hour throughout the night. I was busy mapping out my plans.
Anyone who had never seen Lyra would think I was the Luna to be. I had plastered my whole face with make-up. I looked like a model. I spent forty-five minutes looking this great.
A huge cloak covered my beauty and the clothes I was wearing. Axel and his two other friends were putting on the same. I slipped away from following them and walked into the main building. Aiming first, at Lyra's room.
Everyone was busy doing something, so no one really noticed me. I thought I had walked into her room successfully with her being oblivious of it. I tiptoed towards her.
"Why must you come in as a thief?" She muttered without looking back. She kept combing her hair and stared at her mirror.
"You thought I'd be dead in the dungeon you put me?" I asked, trying to find out if she was really the one that threw me there.
"Nonsense! Kael threw you there while I saved you. I had sent your location to Axel anonymously, since I knew he would rush down to save you." Witches are always good at taking advantage of everyone.
"Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Trying to become Kael's Luna while I, his mate as directed by the goddess, is still alive and well." I was fuming in anger. I was praying within me not to unleash the violence in me.
"And what would I have done when he chose me over you? You're not perfect for him." The smile on her fully painted lips made me want to rip her heart into two.
"Since I knew you were coming, I had prepared a gift for you." She handed a little box to me, but I had no intention of collecting it, but her next words forced me to go against my wish. "Who was it that killed your parents? What exactly was the identity of your parents before their demise? You'll find all those questions in the box." I snatched the box from her.
"In return, I want you to leave with Axel to Shadowclaw. He'll become the Alpha, and you'll get to be his Luna over there." I wasn't ready to go into a deal with the devil, but I need to find out how my parents were killed.
I patted my tummy thrice, "I'll be back." I whispered and left the room. A loud chuckle bade me goodbye.
But not really goodbye. I came back and threw a folded paper to her, but she ignored it.
I strode past all the rooms with tears trickling down my face. Then I heard a voice that made my heart skip a beat. I glued my ear to the wooden door.
"Father! We've gone too far to cancel it!" Kael growled. His voice was filled with pain and regret.
"What I've said is final, if you do not take your mate as the Luna, I'll not let you become the Alpha." His father was firm in his words.
Kael fell to his knees.
While navigating the thought of whether to stay, since he would have to accept me as his mate, a hand grabbed my wrist. It was Axel.
"We have to go." He pulled me away against my wish. My eyes never left the room until I couldn't anymore. I was tired from crying, but it still wouldn't stop pouring.
In his car, I opened the little box Lyra had given me. The first thing that caught the attention of my eyes was a word written in capital letters, 'ALPHA RYKER'.
My father was once the Alpha of Nightshade pack. Alpha Ryker, was the beta. He had conspired with the other officials to overthrow my father, which resulted in killing him and Mum.
I was the heir. The future Luna.
I folded the paper as anger overwhelmed me. My father's last words flashed through my mind. "All those who are involved in this injustice, let them suffer. Let them search and pray for death, which will be thousands of kilometers away by then. All their families and bloodlines!" His perfectly manicured fingernails pierced the skin of my leg as his spirit left him completely. Then I was dragged away by the masked men.
Axel was busy driving along the express and had no time to notice me crying. I covered my mouth so it wouldn't be that loud. I tore the paper into pieces and threw it out angrily.
"KAEL! I'll make you crawl at my feet and beg me to end your life. You'll go through ten times the pain you made me go through all my life."
How could the goddess be this cruel? She knew Kael was part of the people I must get revenge on, yet she tied our fates and made him my mate. Nonsense!
I glared at my tummy furiously, feeling like pulling his babies out of my stomach forcefully. But they were also my babies. I'm pregnant for my dreaded enemy. My dad would be so disappointed! I felt sleep washing over me.
Then I found myself in a vision.
After becoming satisfied with her looks, Lyra picked up the paper I threw at her earlier.
Her eyes were almost plucked out of the socket by what she saw, 'Kael has a twin in my stomach, carrying his bloodline'.
"GUARD!" She screamed. One of the guards came in trembling. "Aria! That naive girl, search for her. Kill her on the spot once you see her. Kael must not get to her!"
=======
"What do you mean she has escaped the dungeon? Guard!" Kael called out furiously.
"Block all the four passages that goes out of Nightshade pack! Bring Aria to me alive! ALIVE!"
DANGER!!!
