Chapter 33 – The Battle of Homestead
Sthenys watched the assault with the critical eye of one who had seen so many battles over the centuries that he knew instinctively whether a tactic was a good one or a bad one. So far, so good.
The six Reliant fleets focused their attack on a small slice of Homestead's defenses. They moved towards the planet at top speed, a semi-suicidal charge.
Some of the ships fired missiles. The planetary defense platforms responded in kind.
Missile-defense autocannons began firing from both sides, and many missiles were destroyed before reaching their targets. Many, but not all. Warheads detonated on Reliant ships and Agrarian platforms. Shields fell, ships were blown apart, and space was quickly full of floating debris.
