I didn't have much time to contemplate my predicament because shortly after hanging up from sweet aunt Regina, the phone rang.
"What in the blazes has been going on?" My meddling but well-meaning father. I raised my arms to beseech the heavens and mouthed “What else can go wrong?”
“I turn on the news to catch thirty seconds about a murder that just happens to occur where my only daughter works and nobody’s told me. Explain yourself, Julienne."
