Chapter 3 The taxi moved steadily through the night and consistent grid of city streets. There seemed to be fewer traffic lights turning red at this hour and they made wonderful timing snaking through the one-way streets and over to the West Side. At the end of the day, Manhattan was still an island and you’d eventually reach the water on one side or the other. Lillianna liked living on the West Side of Manhattan and always having a certain degree of proximity to the sea. The sea seemed to symbolize freedom to her.
