Chapter 15 It was the Siege of Budapest. Bullets seared into the outer walls. The fire and artillery continued to blast away in relentless, rapid-fire at the Royal Palace. Flames mercilessly engulfed the elaborate exterior and shattered the glass in the windows and made its way inside. The interior had collapsed rapidly and turned everything into smoke and ash. As one room and section of the palace after another fell into complete destruction, along with it went all of the history, art, and treasures that were there from Hungary’s long history.
