Chapter 8

Cole POV

I hit hard on my alarm clock to stop it from ringing. I got out of bed and in thirty (30) minutes I had left for the office. When I got to the office I was about taking the elevator to the typing department then I remembered I had been transferred to the editing department. I sadly tapped the 6th floor as that was where the editing department was located.

As the elevator door opened I walked in and saw everyone sitting behind their desks their eyes firmly fixed on their screen and minding their own businesses. I walked over to a vacant desk and sat down,I really wished I would see someone like Sam

At my lunch break I got to the cafeteria where Sam and I always went when we were still in the same department,but surprisingly today he didn't show up at the cafeteria I felt so lonely. I dialed his line so many times but he didn't respond and after I had called twice his line went off and that was how it was till lunch break was over. I got back to my office and continued working,I know nothing about editing but since I was forced into the job I didn't ask for assistance. I did what I could to the best of my ability. I was so happy when my shift was over and I returned home

Once again at home I tried Sam's number but it still wasn't going through so I slept hoping for that Sam and I would meet tomorrow. The next day was my normal routine but then after my lunch break I got information that the CEO had sent for me ,I knew there was trouble and it was then I pieced it together and found out that she must have been the one that got me transferred to this department.

I got into the elevator going to the last floor and I didn't feel scared at all,I had been through worse when I was still in the military. I got to her office and her door automatically opened for me to come in. Immediately I entered I saw Charlotte sitting comfortably on her swivel chair.

She was holding a file in her hand and looking angrily at me,at that sight I got scared thinking I was getting fired but instead she tossed that file to me and got five (5) more from her drawer. She said "all these manuscripts should be edited properly before tomorrow you are permitted to sleep at work if you want but failure to complete this task will result in a cut from your salary or even worse I could fire you".

Charlotte POV

I was so happy when I called Cole I had given other employees in the editing department a day off tomorrow,all except from Cole whom I gave the entire day's work to. I was feeling so good with myself but still I looked at his expression and I saw that undaunted expression that he has always had with me and it got me angrier just looking at him. That expression meant that everything I was doing had no effect whatsoever on him and that mad me want to go mad so I added to,I also gave him the manuscripts he had edited before and told him that he has to do it again before tomorrow.
