14 Zenobia entered the royal stable alone, earlier than her two faithful guards expected her. She waved off the attendants and watchmen who ran to her aid as she approached the opened doors. She wanted to be alone. The stable itself was cool and breezy, insulated by thick walls. Large stone pillars placed in rows down either side of the main aisle raised up to the tall arched blue tiled ceilings above, marking the sides of each stall entrance. The large, heavy wooden doors on either side of the long building were often left open during the day and multiple arched windows were placed high above each stall on the outer walls.
