38 “My Queen, please drink some water.” Zenobia slowed her steady stride at Alexius’ request and looked down at the flowing river they had walked next to for the last twenty minutes. Behind her, ten thousand warriors followed. They did not march, walking behind her in an informal formation instead. Periodically, some of them stopped to take drinks from the river before they returned to keep pace with the rest of the group. “Soon.” Zenobia replied, “Soon we will take a moment to rest, together.” He nodded at her statement and she quickened her pace.
