Aurora shivered in trepidation as the light in her eyes dimmed with each passing second. Her phone dropped on the ground.
"No, no, no, it can't be true, it can't be true…" She mumbled as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
Indigo helped her sister to a seat with a worried look on her face. "What happened? Tell me what happened". She thought of multiple reasons that would cause her sister to lose her composure all of a sudden but couldn't quite pinpoint a reason.
Her eyes fell on the phone which was on the ground, she immediately grabbed it then placed it on her ear. "Hello? Hello?"
"Miss Aurora, are you still there?" A female voice answered from the other end of the phone.
She was also sobbing which immediately caused indigo to be worried.
"No, my sister can't take the phone right now, she is in a pretty bad shape right now. What did you tell her?" Indigo demanded, her eyes glancing back at Aurora who was now sobbing quietly.
"I'm really sorry, I hate to be the bearer of bad news".
"Just tell me! What is going on? And who are you?"
"Kiaus is dead". The voice on the other end finally said.
"…"
For a moment, Indigo felt like a hammer was slammed against her head.
She immediately broke into tears again, her voice started breaking as she sobbed. "Tell me that you're joking. H-he can't… he can't be dead?" Her statement came out as a question.
The female voice on the phone continued. "He was in an accident earlier, I just found out about his marriage to your sister. I would like to meet Aurora so we can hold his memorial".
"I hope she will show up".
Indigo wiped her eyes and nodded, forgetting that she could only be heard and not seen. Upon realizing this, she responded. "Sure, we'll be there, what's the address please?"
As the woman called out the address, Indigo grabbed a pen to write it down. Once the conversation was over, she rushed to her sister's side and pulled her into her arms to console her.
Aurora felt numb as her tears rolled unceasingly.
"Indigo, how could he? How could he die? He promised me!" Aurora gently hit her sister as she vent all her sorrow and inner frustration. "How could he? We had plans".
"I'm so sorry sis, I'm sorry".

Miles away, in a stunning and enormous mansion, a woman sank into a chair in tears, sobbing quietly. Another older woman was present and the mood in the air was somber and depressing.
The woman took a framed picture of a young man, gently caressing the surface as tears dropped on the picture. "How could you leave me so soon? I can't help but think it's my fault".
"It's not your fault, Madam". The older woman immediately moved to comfort the woman.
"Georgina, he would not have to leave if it wasn't because of me, it's all my fault Gina. Because of me, my son is dead".
"I'm sure the young master wouldn't blame you, Madam".
The woman dropped the picture and stretched out to grab something else… it was a marriage document.
She traced over it with the tip of her index finger. "He got married and he didn't even tell me. Kiaus isn't impulsive, why would he get married without informing me?" She asked no one in particular.
Georgina also glanced at the document. "I'm sure Master Kiaus had his reasons. Even though I suspected that he and Miss Astrid might end up as a couple, he proved me wrong. I'm sure whoever he married is a lovely young woman".
"She seemed nice to him too, I'm sure she's devastated right now".
"They recently got married and she is suddenly a widow," she sighed. "I understand how she feels". Gina held her madam's hand and squeezed gently as a form of reassurance.
The two women sat there in silence for a long time as no more words were shared between them.
In the silence, Melanie felt her heart breaking at the thought of her dead son.
She had been resting when she received a call from a total stranger. Thinking that it was probably an acquaintance of hers who wanted to get in her good books, she answered the call.
But instead of it being a contract proposal or an impending corporation, it informed her of the accident of her oldest son, Kiaus.
According to him, the car he was driving was burnt beyond recognition and there was no chance that he might have survived.
She had three children but Kiaus had been the one closest to her, he was smart and responsible and he easily took charge of her late husband's conglomerate. No one had prepared her for this news so it shook her greatly.
While she was still lost in thought, a young woman suddenly entered the room and ran into Melanie's embrace, crying.
"Mother, tell me it's not true. Kiaus can't be dead right?" Lyla pulled away to look at her mother with expectations.
"It's true, your older brother is dead." She answered without emotion in a tone that was almost mechanical.
Her words were enough confirmation for Lyla. "It can't be true, it can't be". She cried out, her tears soaking into her mother's shirt.
Melanie sat quietly, her back straight which screamed of the elegance of a well-bred woman. Her tears rolled down her cheeks slowly but she didn't cry out. Her gaze stared into the distance as she sank into the memories of the happy moments she had shared with her son.
Gina, upon seeing Melanie's state grew increasingly worried as the minutes passed by. The news was devastating, and she wanted to comfort the two women but whatever she said at that moment would do little to nothing to help.
"Where is Asher?" Melanie asked all of a sudden.
"After he informed me about…" Lyla did not complete her words but everyone understood what she meant. "He left almost immediately, he said he had to get some things covered. He's preventing the news from getting to the press for now, he is worried that it might affect the operation of the company".
"Were you aware that your brother was married?"
"Kaius was married? To whom?" Lyla looked genuinely shocked at this news. "Was it to Astrid?"
"No. Someone else".
