Kelly was pulling into Jen’s driveway to drop Paulie off when she heard a gunshot. She quickly put the car into park and dove out. As she pulled out her g*n, she yelled to Paulie, “Stay back! Don’t go in!” but it was too late. Paulie rushed inside.
She bolted in after him and almost ran him down. On the floor was a man with a g*n just inches from his hand and a large dog with his mouth around the man’s throat. The man had soiled himself and was whimpering. She grabbed at Paulie to pull him back, but instead, he moved forward. “It’s OK, CD. You did well.” The dog let go of the man’s throat and immediately moved around the counter and started whining. Paulie saw Jen lying on the floor, blood all around.
