We stayed but a little while more — I did not wish to dampen the staff’s merriment — and returned upstairs. Kitty and Georgiana were more than a bit red-cheeked, as, I am sure, I was myself. We bid each other good night, and I retired to our chamber. I had intended to write to you, but apparently fell asleep still in my gown. I woke to find Florry — rather loudly and unsteadily — entering our chamber, and then attempting to get me undressed and into bed. I will admit that I have rarely actually felt the need for assistance in that regard more than I did last night. Unfortunately, Florry was herself less than usually effective in her aid. I have some memory of asking about her sister and Margaret — and then asking where Hero and Beatrice had got to, which confused poor Florry completely.
