ARIA Seven wolves were growling somewhere behind us. The sound stayed low, steady, waiting. We were upwind. That meant it was only a matter of seconds before our scent reached them. Once it did, there would be no sneaking, no hesitation, just teeth and noise. Karin couldn’t fight her way forward without drawing attention. That much was clear.
