ARIA “Wait. Why are you yelling at me? I don’t even know you. She tried to eat it,” I said, pointing at Elara. My voice shook a little, though I tried not to show it. Behind the man standing in front of us, the enormous body lay sprawled on the table, still twitching slightly, the smell of blood thick in the air. The healer’s veins in his forehead bulged as he stared at me. “You were going to eat it?” he repeated, voice low and sharp, like he couldn’t believe what he just heard. Elara spun to face me, her eyes narrow, her voice snapping. “Seriously, Aria? I show you a good time, and now you’re throwing me straight under the bus?” “Sorry,” I muttered, dropping my head. “He looks… mean.” Elara snorted, but not harshly. It sounded almost like amusement. The past hour had been insane.
