Beautiful Moment Ruined Horribly

Freya's P.O.V 

    A week had passed in a blink and a lot has changed if you ask me. I will start with Alexander, our relationship indeed improved, I’ve learned a lot about him. He is a very funny, cute, and a kind person, I know it sounds weird and I was shocked too, the cold-hearted bad boy turned out to be quite the opposite. He mentioned that he came back here because his parents got transferred, he also has a little sister, Catherine. Could you imagine a small Alexander in a female version?? I wish that I could see her someday. I don't know the reason behind his cold acts but I Know one thing... this boy is a keeper. I can't help but wonder what made him act as a bad boy and I am eager to know what hurt him that much... or who. As for your question if we are a couple? Dude, it has only been a week since we met, though I can't deny the deep eye contacts that we share, not to mention, the constant feeling of butterflies in my stomach. Oh, and I noticed that when he is angry with me or serious, he calls me by my name, other than that he uses angel. The happiest one of us was Lexi, because of my friendship with Alexander we got to spend a lot of time with him and Jake, Lexi's crush. And guess what?? We weren't the only ones sharing glances here and there... yes, you guessed it right!! They were too. Right now, I am sitting next to Alexander listening to our English teacher. 

    "So students, you are going to pair up with your desk mates in order to present a small stanza." Mrs. Hanna said, then added " About nature, or friends; for example: 

      True friends are by your side, 

      Through it all.

      True friends are there, 

      To catch you when you fall." 

     I turned to look at Alexander who was pocking me by his pen. 

    "Do you recall any of them?" He asked and before I had the chance to answer, the teacher interrupted our unfinished conversation." I guess Freya and Alexander are ready because they started with the talking." She glared at us. We walked towards the teacher such that we were facing the students.  

    I never liked to be the center of attention therefore I was getting nervous, you know when you want to present something and all people are watching. However, all my nervousness vanished away when our eyes met and as usual, we got lost in each other's ones, but this time it was different. Alexander looked intensely at mine as if trying to study them. I don't know how much we stayed like that but for me, it felt like forever. Before the teacher could comment, he started his first stanza which left me speechless. 

     As I look into your eyes;       

     Your eyes look,      

     Just like the shinning blue sea, 

      I get lost in them. _Alexander 

  I felt like my heart dropped onto the ground which was an extremely new feeling I got to experience. As if the time stopped at that very moment, I was on top of the clouds floating with my heart in my hands. I would be stupid if I said that he was just saying any stanza he has memorized because his deep insight and his stanza referring to our usual eye contacts and my blue eyes... it’s that obvious. Again, I turned to look at him and I don't know how the following words escaped my mouth. 

     I could sit by your side all day, 

     With nothing to say, 

     For a day in your presence, 

     Brings me a peace I can not explain. _Freya 

   I was surprised by myself; I've always read stories and some poems but NEVER memorized a stanza that much romantic. I guess he could bring out different sides of me. I took my chance to look at Alexander, he seemed to be as surprised as I was, but soon an adorable smile was drawn on his face which I returned as well and then continued our stanza. 

     It's your smile, 

     It gets to me every time, 

     It's your smile,  

     It warms my heart, 

     And brightens my day, 

     It's your smile, 

     I'll bask in it always,

     If I have my way. _Alexander 

     You've always been my hero, 

     You've always been my pride, 

     You've always given so much love, 

     And shown what's deep inside. _Freya 

    We were still looking in each other's eyes, so confused and lost with mixed feelings, trying to figure out what we feel for each other after these unexpected stanzas. Alexander mouthed "together" and I just spoke what first came to my mind.  

     I knew the day we met, 

     That we were meant to be.  

     I knew our fate was set that,  

     You were the one for me. 

    Okay! What was that all about? As if we can read each other's minds through our eyes. I don't know how to explain the feeling lingering in my heart but I know one thing, I definitely fell for him after this. When we said it in unison, it just felt so right, it made me feel complete. 

    "Okay, thank you Freya and Alexander for this romantic stanza, although I asked it to be about another topic. But you both did great." Mrs. Hanna commented and we both went back to our seats. The students started shouting some stuff like "You make a cute couple" or "You don't deserve him! He is hotter than you"... which we ignored completely.

    When we sat down, I was extremely shy. I bet that my cheeks were the darkest shade of red. I still can't believe any of what happened earlier, a dream...a wonderful dream. 

    "That was.." I turned to look at a smiling Alexander "amazing!" He grinned. 

    "Yeah, it was! Do you always memorize such things?" I asked. 

     "To be honest, no.” He took a deep breath as if debating whether to speak up or not, but eventually added “I don't know the reason but when I looked into your eyes, the words came out automatically." His answer made me blush even more!! His confession was mutual to my feelings. I guess it is fair enough to return the favor back. 

    "Umm.. I gu-guess.. me too." I whispered back enough for him to hear it. He chuckled soon a warm smile following "Glad to hear that." He winked and turned his attention to Mrs. Hanna. 

    The session finished really quick but it was a little weird with the constant glares I received from Stephanie and Nate, and believe me I don't even know why. I ignored that and walked with Alexander towards the cafeteria. When we reached, Lexi and Jake were already waiting for us... flirting. We greeted them and gave them a quick hug before we sat. 

    "We heard about your famous stanza!" Lexi started speaking and I immediately elbowed her, shutting her up. 

"What?" She asked narrowing her eyes. I just glared at her; this girl can't stop talking. 

 I heard a chuckle from Alexander, then Jake started talking.  

"Everyone is talking about your romance and stuff, what was that about?" 

 "Nothing interesting. It's just a stanza." I answered quickly, trying to avoid any further questions. 

 "It is definitely a thing." Alexander stated winking. 

 Really Alexander?! God please help me. Though, I hoped he truly meant what he said. 

 "Ummm... I-..do-.." I hate when I stutter. Today, I’ve made a lot of confessions and I’m not planning on saying any further. 

  "Leave my best friend alone! Stop teasing her." Lexi defended me. Finally, she remembered I am her bff for life. 

 "Why is Stephanie glaring at you all the time?" Lexi whispered. 

  I didn't notice that before she alarmed me, I looked over my shoulder and yup! She was glaring at me and even narrowed her gaze when we made eye contact. Can't she make it more obvious? 

 "Yeah! I don't know why but that also happened at class after the stanza thing." I replied. 

 "I guess she is just jealous, don't worry." 

  "Yeah!" I replied, " I am going to the bathroom." I left them at the table and went to the bathroom. After I finished my work, I opened the door and found Stephanie standing by the sink.  

    “Look who’s here?” She said rudely. 

    “Hey! How you doing?” I asked kindly. 

    “Don’t hey me! We are no longer friends.” She shouted.  

    I was taken back by her sudden act. What is wrong with her?! 

    “Why? What happened?”  

    “Don’t act stupid. You know that I wanted Alexander from the very beginning, yet you took every chance and got closer to him. Just get the f**k away from him or trust me I will make your life a living hell.”  

    What is she talking about? I didn’t even know she was after him. As much as I am kind and sweet, I couldn’t let her talk to me in such a way. 

    “Listen to me Stephanie, I’m not stealing anyone from you. There is nothing going on between us.. you can have him all to you. But don’t ever again dare talk to me like that!” 

    “HAHA.. stop lying. Anyone could be stupid if they didn’t see the love in your eyes, and that stupid stanza of yours. I bet you made him memorize them with your playful acts.” She stepped closer and added. “You are a cheap s**t that plays around and doesn’t care about anything but herself.”  

   I was in utter shock. How could she accuse me of things that I didn’t do? Let alone call me names?? For what? For a boy who doesn’t even care about her? I could feel tears gathering in my eyes but I tried my best to hide them. Her words hurt my feelings and I couldn’t stand there and watch her go on talking s**t about me, so I slapped her. I slapped the most popular girl in our school and I couldn’t care less. She should have thought about it before she addressed me like that. Her face turned from surprised into extremely angry, therefore, I immediately left her there and ran toward the cafeteria. The group was still sitting there and I didn’t want them to know what happened, especially Alexander.  

    I went over to them, trying my best to hide the tear strains from my face.  

    “Hey! What took you so lon-. Are you okay?” Alexander asked worriedly. I just flashed him a weak smile and told him everything’s fine, though I knew he didn’t believe me. Then I took Lexi’s hand and walked towards a spot where there was no one, leaving a worried Alexander behind.  

    “What is going on?” Lexi asked concerned. 

    “I slapped Stephanie.” I said soon tears started falling as I remembered her hurtful words. 

    “Omg! Stephanie Betz! The popular girl of school?!” Lexi gasped and I nodded, filling her with all the things that happened. 

     “That b***h! I will rip her dirty tongue and feed it to the cats.” I couldn’t help but chuckle at my protective best friend. “And you did the best thing by slapping her, though you should’ve kicked her and ripped her hair out.” 

     “It just hurts all the things she said. Ughhh.. two scenes in one week, great!”. 

     “Two scenes?” 

     “Yeah, Nate also wanted to have lunch with me which I rejected politely, but then he tried touching me and I pushed him away. He just started saying that I would regret that and some stuff.” 

    “Okay Freya, listen to me. This isn’t any kind of joke. You know how much Nate is dangerous, and now you made Stephanie angry and I am sure she will take her revenge. You must be careful, don’t stay alone at any costs. Did you understand me?” 

    “Lex, it isn’t something that serious. I bet both will forget what happened soon, right?” 

     “I can’t be so sure. Just stick to what I said.” 

   We went back to our class and as Lexi promised she never left my side. I didn’t see Stephanie until the last session, she looked furious and kept on staring at me with fire fuming from her eyes. To be honest, her stares didn’t bother me because I knew I didn’t do anything wrong and well, she deserved that slap.

  The day reached an end; and as soon as I reached my house, I slept all evening trying to escape any attempts of remembering what happened today. Soon, a phone call woke me up and it was Alexander. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw his name flashing on my screen. I immediately picked up the phone.  

    “Hello?” 

    "Thank god, Freya! I was worried sick about you. Why didn’t you answer any of my calls or messages?” 

    Quickly, I checked and found 8 text messages and 3 missed calls. All from him. Was he that worried about me? 

    “Sorry about that. I fell asleep and didn’t hear your calls.” 

    He took a deep breath and started “It’s okay. I got worried when you didn’t pick up, I thought something happened to you after lunch. I’m sorry, I should have check on you earlier but Mr. Roberts, the coach, wanted my help with some workouts.” 

    Because of the bad incident that occurred, I didn’t notice the absence of Alexander in any of my classes. 

    “It’s totally fine. Don’t worry, it was nothing important. I am fine now.” 

    “I don’t believe you but I won’t pressure you. You must know one thing, that I am there if you need someone to talk to. However, you must be tired, good night, angel.” 

    “Thank you so much. I know I could count on you. Good night, my protector.” I giggled and then I fell flat on my bed recalling our beautiful stanza together. With that, I fell asleep smiling. 

    The next day was pretty quiet. I didn’t see any of Stephanie or Nate, which made me relax a bit. Today I was more confident than yesterday. I was still thinking about the fact that Alexander was worried about me, does that mean he likes me back? Or maybe he just cares about me as a friend... I hope it is the first choice. After having lunch with the group, Lexi and I scurried towards the lockers to fetch our books.  “Oh shoot! I forgot my notebook at the lunch table. Come with me, I won’t leave you alone.”                 

“Hey, relax. No one of them showed up today, there is nothing to worry about!” She was hesitant for a second but then nodded and ran towards the cafeteria. Isn’t she the cutest? In the time being, I sauntered down the hallway but soon my peaceful walk was blocked by Nate’s body. And at that very moment, I regretted not listening to Lexi. 

    When I saw his evil smile, I took it as my cue to leave. Unfortunately, before I could run away, he grabbed my arm and stated angrily “Don’t dare to move or the things would get even worse, little one.” I turned around to look for help but everyone was probably in their classes. Nate smirked when he noticed my weakness, he started pulling me down the hallway. I hissed in pain as a result of his tight grip, I just hope he doesn’t do anything bad to me. We reached a dark room that was full of old tables and chairs. He pushed me on the wall, leaving me with massive pain in my back. Before he could leave, I gathered my courage and spoke up.  

    “Why are you doing this?” 

    “You shouldn’t have rejected me that day. I wasn’t even interested in you; it was just a stupid bet. You embarrassed me in front of my friends and preferred your new toy. This is the cost of rejecting me because NO ONE CAN REJECT NATE STEWARTS!” I got even more scared of his angry voice echoing in the room.  

    “Hey b***h!” Stephanie walked towards me. I should have expected them to team up. 

   “Didn’t that slap teach you some manners?!” I yelled at her. I could see her face turning red and paaaaa.. I got slapped by her, soon my warm face met the cold floor. That was painful. Then, she managed to kick me in the stomach one kick before she left.  

    “I hope this would let you learn to never disobey us.” They locked the door and left me in that lifeless room.  

    Suddenly, reality hit me and I ran towards the door and started banging on it as hard as I could and yelling for help. No, this wasn’t happening to me. Calm down Freya, this is only a nightmare, you are imagining things because of your claustrophobia. I could feel my breath getting heavier and my heart beat increasing. Soon I was laying on the floor, sobbing trying to catch my breath because of the constant yelling. Then, I tried to stand up, but soon lost balance because of the dizziness. Black dots appeared in my vision. Suddenly the door cracked open, and before I could pass out, I managed to spell my final words. 

   “Xander!”
