Divorce and Defiance

"Are you ashamed? Having a wife like me," Blair repeated Finn's words. Her tears had long since stopped, and her sadness had been replaced by a burning anger. This was the result of all her sacrifices for her husband—she was treated like garbage, deemed completely worthless. "That's right," Finn continued, his gaze filled with disgust. "Any man would be ashamed to have a wife like you. Unable to have children and completely useless. You're nothing like Victoria. She's intelligent and knows how to make herself beautiful." Blair slowly understood. She had been blaming herself, believing she couldn't give her husband her best, but the truth was Finn was the one who was ungrateful. He was the source of all their problems, never satisfied with what he had. Blair had always compromised for Finn, transforming herself into someone she didn't recognize, leaving her family behind for him. And now, she had reached her breaking point. "I'm leaving," she declared. "Good," Finn retorted. "Go home and take care of household chores. Stop giving me a headache." He turned away, ready to walk back into the house, dismissing her completely. "I'm leaving," Blair repeated firmly, "and I'm divorcing you." Finn stopped mid-step, his forehead creasing in confusion. Then suddenly, he burst into laughter. "Divorce?" Another voice interrupted. It was Agnes, Finn's mother. "She must be crazy," Agnes continued. "She'll come back and beg for forgiveness." Finn nodded, initially bewildered but not taking her seriously. "She'll never dare to actually leave," he muttered. "How dare you try to divorce my son!" Agnes screamed. "You're the one who's been causing him problems!" But Blair stood her ground, her gaze different—a mixture of suppressed anger and determination. "Look how she's staring at me," Finn said. "As if she wants to hurt me." Unable to tolerate what he perceived as disrespect, Finn raised his hand and struck Blair hard across the face. She stumbled backward, falling to the floor. The sound of the slap echoed through the house, drawing the entire Harrison family from the dining room. They whispered and giggled, watching Blair clutch her cheek, not a single one showing an ounce of sympathy. "She looks so pathetic," they murmured, some even laughing quietly. Blair heard every word. This was it—she had to leave and seek her revenge. She couldn't continue living under the Harrison family's oppression. Victoria approached Agnes, her face a mask of manufactured concern. "Is she trying to harm you?" she asked, knowing full well Blair would do no such thing. "No," Agnes replied dramatically, "but I'm frightened. She was staring at me so intensely." Victoria rubbed Agnes's back sympathetically. "You must have been so shocked," she cooed, and Agnes smiled, basking in the attention. "You would make such a better wife for my son," Agnes said, looking at Victoria. "Then marry Victoria," Blair interrupted, her voice cutting through the tension. She was sick of being compared to Victoria, of hearing how much better Victoria would be as Finn's wife. A stunned silence fell over the room. "I'll give Finn to you," Blair continued. "I'll divorce him." Finn grabbed her arm roughly. "Let go of me!" Blair screamed, refusing to let him touch her. "Are you crazy?" Finn demanded. "Yes, I'm crazy!" Blair shouted. "Crazy for sacrificing everything to marry you, only to be insulted and degraded like this!" She struck her own chest, overwhelmed by regret. "What have you even sacrificed?" Agnes challenged. "You've been completely useless to Finn since the day you married him." Blair laughed bitterly and nodded. "Fine. I'll go. If I want a divorce, Finn won't object. Victoria can take care of him. What use am I? Just a housemaid?" "Take care of yourself, Finn," she said finally. "I'll handle our divorce." Everyone was stunned, none more so than Finn. "Blair, wait. Are you serious?" he asked nervously, reaching for her. Blair quickly brushed his hand away. "I'm serious. After all, I'm useless, right?" Without another word, she walked away, leaving everyone in shocked silence. "I'll throw out all your things!" Finn yelled after her. "But I know you'll come crawling back!" Blair didn't turn around. She walked away, feeling each step remove another memory of her life with Finn. Step by step, she realized she needed to forget those happy memories because Finn was no longer the man she remembered. Though she had been angry moments ago, tears now streamed down her face. She sat on the grass, unable to believe how miserably her marriage had ended. "Where do I go now?" she whispered to herself, pulling out her phone and scrolling through her contacts. One name made her finger pause: Father. Should she really contact the family she had abandoned three years ago?
