For a moment, the hallway was so silent that, in the midst of her shock and horror, Millicent even wondered if she was hallucinating, after such a terrible day.
But Jasmine didn’t let that doubt last more than a second.
“Yes, Austin, baby! Harder!”
“What the fuck..!” Sage growled under his breath. “Those bastards! I can’t believe it...! Millie? Millie, wait...!”
Ignoring that low request, Millicent just let her feet guide her numb body to Jasmine’s bedroom door, where not only did the suggestive growls become clearer, but she could also hear a second voice. The voice of someone who was obviously there with Jasmine, but who was still like a knife in Millicent’s chest.
“I already told you to shut up!” Austin grunted, but there was a clear smile in his voice.
“Why?” Jasmine proved, her voice distorted with a malice that Millie would never have imagined her sweet and joyful friend was capable of. “Are you afraid that some guard will hear us again...? Or, maybe, that your precious baby girl may be nearby...?”
“Shut up!” Austin grunted and what sounded like a slap followed, although he seems to be enjoying it all quite a bit. “Wasn‘t it enough that you made me talk to her on the phone while your dirty mouth was on my c**k, yesterday? What more do you want?”
“I want you to keep the promises you made to me! You said you just needed this project to be approved to make me your future wife! From the start, I made it very clear to you that I would not accept anything less! Or have you already forgotten what you said to convince me to betray my dear friend?” she scoffed, which nearly made Millicent vomit.
“That’s funny... I remember you being the one rubbing your t**s in my face every time she left us alone..”
“If you really like me, then you should have broken up with her since then! Jasmine countered. “What happened to everything you said about me being better than her at everything? Am I no longer the prettiest, the hottest and the best s*x you’ve ever had?”
“Come on, kitty.. You know it’s not that simple for me to break up with her. She might be the most frigid b***h I’ve ever been with, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s a Bianchi. Her father would fire me the second I broke his little girl’s heart. I’ve already taken a first step by getting that son of a b***h to sign a contract with my father, but that’s still not enough. If I really want to prove that my ideas are profitable and convince my father’s partners that I am ready to take his place as CEO, then I have to keep Millicent with me, at least for the next months. You understand, don’t you?” He purred, with the same sweet tone of voice that Millicent heard so many times before, whenever he asked for a favour. “It’s just a temporary effort...”
“I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard those same words from you! I’m starting to lose my patience...” Jasmine grumbled with discontent, but, when she spoke again, there was a perverse pleasure in her voice. “You’re the only one who should be alert, you know? Now that Isaac is back, even hotter than he was in High School, you’re not the only one who can make me Jasmine Carnby...”
That sentence ended with an abrupt gasp and, in the next instant, the room’s door began to creak, leaving no doubt to what was happening right on the other side.
“That son of a b***h was nothing when we were young and he’s still nothing, did you hear that? It doesn’t matter what s**t he did to let others think he is worthy of being an investor! As I can get Massimo Bianchi to stop acting like a b***h and finally support me completely, I will prove to the world that Isaac is nothing more than a worm! And you better stay by my side, you f*****g w***e, or I’ll discard you just like you want me to do with Millicent!”
“Calm down, baby.”’ Jasmine laughed, even though she sounded like someone being seriously choked. “I was just kidding. You know there is only you for me. That’s why I asked Millicent to spend the night whining alone, so I could have my man all to myself. You won’t waste my efforts, will you?”
“You’re lucky to have such a good p***y, you bitch.”
“And my mouth is even better.” She purred. “Why don’t you take the opportunity and call Millie? I promised her I would fix things between you two, after all. And you know how wet I get when you say you love her while cumming on my face...”
A sob threatened to escape between Millicent’s lips, but she covered her mouth before it could happen. Her body was shaking and her eyes were burning as tears fell, but even so she walked away, with barely audible footsteps.
“Oh, Millie...!” Sage supported her at the moment when her wobbly legs almost made her stumble on the way away from that corridor “Please, don’t cry... f**k! I can break down that door right now, if you want to tell them everything they deserve to hear! Or I can beat the s**t out of them with my bare hands. Just... Don’t be like that...” She practically begged, but all Millicent could do was continue to shake. “I... I’m going to call your parents... You clearly need to go home...”
“No!” Millicent reacted before she could even realize it, grabbing Sage’s wrist before she could reach the phone. “You can’t do that!”
“What?” She blinked in disbelief. “Listen, Millie, I know you love that i***t, but what he and Jasmine did is not something worth forgiving...”
“You don’t understand...” Millie sobbed, feeling as if her in sides were torn apart. “If my dad finds out about what just happened... He’ll cancel the contract with the Carnbys.”
“And what? A simple contract means nothing...”
“It means everything! Because it will cause my father and his investors to lose hundreds of millions of dollars!” Millicent gasped, pain and anger distorting her voice. “And why? Because I was the one who convinced him to trust in the potential of the Carnby companies and sign this partnership with them! I was the one who allowed myself to be manipulated, after months of listening to Austin say that our companies should also come together, now that we were becoming a family! My father would never have accepted this, if I hadn’t insisted. And, now... Evan Carnby’s son cheating on me with one of my best friends is not a valid clause to terminate this contract. If my parents decide to cut ties with the Carnbys to try to avenge me... The company will suffer the biggest loss in history.. And it will be all my fault!” Her eyes looked up towards the door of that room again. “How could I be so stupid...?!”
“You weren’t.” Sage tried to comfort her. “They tricked you. It’s not the same...”
“Yes, it is! I promised my father I would make him proud when he gave me the opportunity to work here.” She cried, not knowing if she was more angry at Austin, Jasmine or herself. “But instead of that, O wasted days and nights helping Austin and giving up my ideas, just so he could gain the trust of the executives, while my project was getting more and more sidelined. Even today, after he stole my project, I still doubted whether I had the right to be angry. But, I never resented any of that... Because I loved him.” She gritted her teeth. “And that was exactly what he wanted. An i***t who would do all the hard work for him while he f****d my friend...”
“He’s not going to get away with this. There must be another way...”
“There isn’t . I read that contract several times. The Bianchi Group is obliged to invest in at least one of the Carnby companies. If this continues, Austin and his father will receive millions. But, if my father finds out about his affair and decides to break the contract, the compensation will pay them even more.” Millicent’s blood seemed to boil. “I was so stupid! I helped this bastard corner my family’s company and create a situation where only those with the Carnby surname will benefit...” She hesitated, as those words made her realize something. “The Carnby surname...”
“Millicent?”
“Sage... I need you to contact the security team.” She took a deep breath, wiping her tear-streaked face, disgusted as she heard the loud moaning begin again. “Find out Isaac Carnby’s room number.”
