I attempted to feign a little interest in whatever Benjamin was saying, but truthfully, I was just itching to hang up. Especially since he did not only want to discuss our business venture, but also he wanted to offer his services to help exact revenge on Melissa.
“Why now?” Something about his absurd claim felt off. First off, when Melissa died, he didn't even attend the funeral. So, why all of a sudden is he so much interested to knowing what kind of plans I have in store for Strand.
“I should have been there for you since the beginning.” He offered lamely, but I wasn't convinced. “I know we weren't in the best of terms, but I should have tried to reach out.”
