Though it was hard for me to leave, that is precisely what I did. But not before reminding Leonard that he should watch his tone with me and that I wasn't some kind of slave that he can boss around. Without waiting for his response, I sauntered out of his room and back to mine I went. It took me a moment to settle comfortably under the duvet, and even then, I could hear Max's loud walking and my heart ached for him. How tough it must be to be left with a clueless father as the only guardian.
