She didn’t believe me.
Of course, she didn’t.
That part wasn’t that surprising.
I had actually expected some resistance from her. I mean, telling her the man that she had always looked up to was a murderer really was a major shift.
Hell, I had even braced myself for the sting of her rejection.
But what I hadn’t expected was for her to look at me like I was the villain in her family’s story, especially when I had felt a lot of guilt for keeping this from her.
Aaliyah was basically just confirming that I had been right about keeping this from her, though, in her defense, she hadn’t expected that my coming-out story would somehow involve her family, and make them out to be the bad guys.
