(Jaime’s POV) The house was quiet when I returned. Too quiet. It should have been the first red flag. But I didn’t think much of it. I had assumed that Aaliyah was sleeping, and while it hurt my heart to have left her all by herself, I had made sure that the entire house was secured from top to bottom, so there wouldn’t be a repeat of what had happened the last time. Plus, she actually felt relieved that I had started to give her some space. I can’t say that I blamed her, considering that she was always seeing me. Also, she wasn’t exactly showing it, but I could still tell that she was upset with me for hiding my secret from her.
