With that, I signed the papers and put the folder away. I turned off the light and pulled the sheet over my body and shut my eyes with nothing but certainty and hope.
I woke up the next morning strangely stronger and more active. I reached for the watch close to my bed and realised I still had enough time to myself before Knox left. That way, I was sure to come up with a plan that would help me face Knox, make me confident enough to approach him rather than him sending for me or approaching me first.
I stretched my hands under my pillow to pull out the folder. My head was clearer and there was certainly nothing that I might have missed last night that would escape my notice now.
