When I left Kane I headed upstairs with the full intention to shower and sleep. But then I realized that he, Berke, and Ryker would all be outside getting ready for the nightly briefing. This was my chance to go down to the cells and talk to Lachian, alone. I needed to know who, or better yet what he is and where he came from.
Heading down the stairs towards the cells, I made it about halfway before hearing Kane’s voice. Had he really just threatened to torture someone? There was no doubt in my mind who he was talking to now. Quietly, I went down two more steps so I could hear better. Between the vamps and Lachian, I knew he wouldn’t pick up my scent, so I was safe to eavesdrop.
