The next day

307 Words
The next day I visited the little girls room again. I decided to make sure to clean everything. I wiped down the bedside table and vanity. Wiped down the wardrobe and made sure there was no dust on her clothes or shoes and carefully placed them back in their spot. I shook out her blankets and fluffed her pillows and neatly remade her bed. I swept her floor and wiped down the sconces in her room and the polished all the doorknobs. After I was done I looked around smiling. When I heard a small commotion behind me. I turned around and there was Michael looking at me. He didn't say say anything for a moment and then said thank you and quietly walked from the room. I followed behind and gently closed the door. I decided not to mention her unless he wanted to talk about it. I decided to give him a hug and a kiss and went and got my shower for the day. As I stepped up he was standing there with my freshly dried towels and handed them to me carefully. I looked up at him trying to read what he was thinking. Did I do something wrong? Is he mad at me? Or is he wondering why I cleaned her room? She was such a beautiful little girl.... "Yes she was beautiful," he said sadly, "thank you for cleaning her room. I'm sorry I didn't say anything. I was just surprised. I promise I'm not mad." " She has a beautiful room and I decided to make sure it stayed that way." He smiled and kissed my forehead and left me to get dressed and brush my hair. When I was finished I went back to our room and snuggled against him and lay there and dozed off for a bit.
