Chapter Ten - Bad Day Gabriella's POV The sound of the gunshot made me whimper in fear. I took a few steps backward and gulped a lump down my throat as I heard the clicking sound of the trigger behind me. I slowly raised my hand in the air in surrender as I carefully turned around to gaze at the culprit. Without him having to introduce himself, I could tell it was Uncle Jude, he stood a few inches taller than me with a pistol clutched tight to his hands and pointed at the direction of my head. It was so easy for me to tell that he was the one, he had similar features with my father, I could not help but see my father in him. "Who are you?" Uncle Jude barked angrily. His eyebrows were furrowed in my direction and an impatient look was plastered on his face. I knew I could introduce myself with my real name, it was not like Uncle Jude knew what I looked like. I cleared my throat and replied in a low tone, my voice barely above a whisper. "Your niece," I said, swallowing the lump in my throat. Uncle Jude's face slowly changed into one of confusion as he began to lower his gun. "My niece?" He repeated. I nodded my head in agreement and cleared my throat to say, "Keisha. Daughter of Mr Kelly, your brother." I blurted out. The moment I uttered those words, I watched uncle Jude's countenance fall. He dropped the gun to the floor and asked. "Kelly, my brother?" His tone was shaky, and his breathing was hitched. "Yes, your brother," I repeated. Uncle Jude nodded his head slowly. I was not expecting some kind of reunion since we barely even knew each other. We had only heard of each other. As a matter of fact, since this was our first time meeting, I did not expect any unnecessary touchy reunion. "What brings you here and how did you find me?" His attitude suddenly becomes cold as he picks up his gun and began to eye me with what looked like disdain. Judging by the look on his face, I could tell that he still held a grudge against my father for locking him up in jail. "I actually have a lot of questions for you Sir. I am looking for my brother and I am hoping you can help me with that." I said in a polite tone. Uncle Jude shook his head in disagreement. His sudden refusal made me feel suspicious, something felt off about him. "You have the wrong person. I have nothing to help you with at all. I cut ties with your father right before his death. I have been in prison for a very long while. I wonder why you think I can help you." He snapped at me. Uncle Jude looked like he was not having this conversation with me at all. "But Sir, I-I..." I stuttered, trying to push further, but surprisingly for me, Uncle Jude raised the gun at me again, startling me. I tripped on a tree branch and fell flat to the floor. "You need to leave here now! I can not help you with anything." He snapped at me. Without even waiting for my response, Uncle Jude began to walk towards his house. I yelled his name several times but he internationally turned a deaf ear to all of that. I sighed heavily in frustration as I heard Uncle Jude slam the door in my face. I was back to square one. I groaned as I slowly rose to my feet, I wiped away the dust from my clothes as I slowly made my way back to the car. I stepped into the car and placed a call to James immediately. "Hello Gabriella? How did it go? Did you get anything from him?" James asked. I could hear background music blaring through the phone speakers. I knew James was a busy person. After all, he did not just work for only me, he seemed to be doing a good job at helping others with investigations. James was famous and that was the only reason why I hired him in the first place. "It went badly. Apparently, Uncle Jude still holds a grudge against I and my father," I muttered as I started the car engine. I heard James hum over the phone. "I did not expect it to be easy, after all, it was your father who sent him to jail in the first place." James pointed out. I placed my left hand on the steering wheel and my other hand clutched my phone tight. "So what do I do James? Uncle Jude might know something. After all, he got out of prison the same time I had the surgery," I stated. Silence fell between I and James for a brief moment and I thought that James has been distracted by something else. Just as I was about to hang up, I heard James clear his throat. I noticed that the background music had disappeared, which only meant that he had gone to a much more private place to discuss with me. "Have you tried offering him money?" James asked. "Money?" I said in a questioning tone. "Yes, your uncle happens to be a very selfish person, in the sense that he is a big lover of money, even after going to prison, I still have a hunch that he is into fraudulent acts." James said. I trusted every bit of James' words. I promised myself to try again tomorrow as it was already nightfall. I arrived home and I noticed something different. Another unfamiliar car was parked in our driveway. I did not need anyone to tell me that Lucian's mother was there. I breathed a sigh of frustration, nothing was going as planned today and I had a deep feeling that today was going to end on a bad note. As I slowly pushed the door open, my eyes were met with an unfamiliar woman dressed in a sleeveless red dress. What was going on here, and why was she sitting close to Lucian?
