Chapter Nine - Surprise Visit Gabriella's POV I stood with anger coursing through my veins as I watched the excited grin spread on Tami's face. She did not deserve to be happy, none of them did. At least not after what they had done to me. Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by loud cheering. I gasped in shock as I raised my head up to gaze at everyone in the conference room. I saw happiness written on all of their faces as they cheered and congratulated Tami. She did not deserve it! I sneaked a glance at George and I could sense how anxious he was. He chuckled nervously and he looked in my direction. Our eyes met for a brief moment before I eventually averted my gaze elsewhere. "Thank you everyone. Thank you so much for the love that you showered me and my husband with. We really appreciate it." Tami smiled. She turned to gaze at me with a raised brow, her smile slowly fading away as she eyed me with disdain. I could tell that Tami was jealous of how close I was getting to George. Little did she know that I no longer had feelings for this man and all of this was just a part of my revenge plan. "You do not look happy at all, Mrs Gabriella, is everything okay with you?" Tami asked. I could sense the fakeness in her tone. Everyone snapped their heads towards my direction, attracting all attention to myself. That was the moment I realized that I had not congratulated them yet. I hastily cleared my throat and choked out a hysteric laughter. "Everything is fine with me. Congratulations to you and George. I wish you safe delivery too." I said with a forced smile. "Thank you, Gabriella." George smiled at me, genuinely and it irritated me. It looked like he was trying to flirt with me, even with the presence of his wife. I mentally scoffed at how it was in his nature to always cheat, regardless of the woman he was with. I pitied Tami because she would be going down with George after my revenge plan is officially a success. I clapped nervously and cleared my throat to say, "Okay! Can we all get back to the meeting?" I smiled. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement with me. We went back to our seats and Tami excused herself out of the conference room, although not after casting one last suspicious glance at me. The meeting began, and I could feel George's eyes burning through my skin. The meeting passed by so quick, we all exchanged several ideas that would be great for the company and how much profit we could all earn from it. Once the meeting was over, I rose to my feet and slowly made my way out of the conference room. Just as I was about to go to the bathroom, I heard a familiar deep voice yell my name from behind. I turned around to gaze at the culprit. It was George, he had a small smile plastered on his face. I felt slightly uncomfortable that George happened to be everywhere around me. His presence made me feel disturbed. "Gabriella! Wait!" He yelled. I gazed at him with a raised brow. "How can I help you, Mr George?" I asked, doing my best to sound professional. "Where are you headed to?" He asked. I saw interest twinkle in his eyes. "Do I now have to report my whereabouts to you?" I joked. George chuckled and shook his head in disagreement. "Of course not. I am just trying to get closer to you Gabriella. I think you are a very chill person. How about dinner tonight?" He asked, fiddling with his hands. I scoffed in disbelief. "You have a wife, Mr George. How about you take her for dinner and celebrate your big news. You are both going to have a baby soon." I said through gritted teeth. I heard George sigh and I could see disappointment written on his face. "I would like to take you for dinner instead Gabriella. Just as friends, it is nothing too deep and I am sure that my wife does not mind our friendship at all." He said. I fought back the urge to scoff again. Of course Tami minded, she made it so obvious. It was either that George was too disinterested to even notice or he just chose to ignore it. I wanted to reply him but then my phone beeped loudly, interrupting me. I pushed my hands into my purse and fetched my phone from it. I gazed at the screen and I saw it was a text message from James. "Excuse me." I muttered, taking a few steps away from George. I slowly read the message out loud. "This is the address of your Uncle Jude, I think you should see him it you can." I nodded my head slowly. I should, I most likely should. Although my schedule was tight. I had a lot of work to do and after that, Lucian had suggested that we meet at the gym in order to help maintain my weight by doing some exercises. I had to make out time to see Uncle Jude, somehow I needed to do so. "Uhm. George, we can have dinner some other time please. I have a lot to do right now. Congratulations to you and your wife once again." I said. Without wasting any more time, I turned around and began to walk away. As the day passed by slowly with me working, I could not stop thinking about Uncle Jude, not for once. The clock ticked 5pm. I rushed out of the company building and drove straight to the address James had sent to me. The drive took quite a long while. I spent half of the time trying to locate the address. I finally pulled the car into the driveway of an abandoned bungalow. The paintings were scrapped off, and the compound was covered in bushes. Was it safe to be here alone? Should I just have sent James instead? I got out of the car and just as I was about to make my way into the house, I heard the sound of gunshots, echoing loudly.
