Ch.6 A Summoner (Part 1)

1182 Words
Meryl never thought that Aria would get protection from the legendary no-face squad. This squad was only loyal and submissive to the Goddess of Nature, but when the Goddess was gone, they were divided into several parts with three tokens as their residence. Since then, no one has seen or heard of this squad member, and the sovereign token became a myth. No one knows the whereabouts of these three tokens, but whoever gets them will have an invincible squad. Rumor has it that this token chose its master and only appeared when it sensed its master was in danger. In addition, the more people search for the existence of this token, the harder it is to find it. Who would have thought that today Meryl would face five squad members at once? And even then, they were all protecting Aria!! She was green with envy and craved to absorb Aria's power even more. The token would also belong to her if she got what Aria had. But for now, she had to back off. "Meryl, I'll try to trick them, and you take that hybrid girl as soon as you get the chance." "No. We're no match for them. We'd better stop for now." The elves didn't know who and why Meryl was afraid of those five strangers. But they had witnessed how one of their comrades was devoured in one go by a creature summoned by the little girl. They had no other choice but to retreat. One by one, they turned and left the place until everyone disappeared into the darkness, leaving Aria and the five squad members. Seeing that there was no longer any threat to their mistress's life, the squad members, but one returned to the token space. This person was still standing there and was the same lady warrior who appeared before Aria for the first time. Her hand rose and cast it at Aria. Golden yellow light enveloped her palm and rained down on Aria's body. "Let all that is good and gentle be your protector. And let the finest feather be your pillow." Miracles occurred, and rare sights that no one had ever seen happened. A queen-size bed with white sheets appeared in the middle of this forest. There were giant pink flower petals like a canopy that protected Aria. With the appearance of the canopy covering Aria, the girl would not be attacked by the night wind that would make her fall ill. Aria was like a sleeping princess waiting to be awakened by her true love's kiss. It was an awe-striking scene. After confirming that Aria would sleep well through the night, the lady warrior caught up with her friends. When a beast approaches just out of curiosity, thorny roots from under the bed attack the beast. Their attacks were quite aggressive and unbreakable. The beasts failed to get close to Aria and got injured instead, so they decided to retreat. That's how Aria slept so soundly that not a single dream came to her. Well, maybe Aria felt like she was dreaming while sleeping on a pleasant soft cloud. The next day, Aria woke up happy, as if there was nothing to worry about. She stretched her arms up to loosen her stiff muscles and yawned widely. Her perfect eyelids fluttered and opened only to find something pinkish not far above her head. Aria felt herself in a cocoon! The moment she started to move to sit up, something resembling a flower petal shifted away. It opened to reveal a clear sky along with a forest view, which made Aria blink a few times. In disbelief at what she saw, Aria rubbed her eyes a few times before taking a clear look at her surroundings. How in the world did she wake up in the middle of nowhere? Didn't she sleep in her room last night? Aria wondered if she was sleepwalking without her noticing. Furthermore, the bed's appearance and the giant flower petals that became the canopy protecting her were pretty hard to describe. Or maybe she was dreaming? Aria slapped her cheeks hard, and the pain made her realize she wasn't dreaming. She glanced at her clothes and ensured she was still in her nightgown. She couldn't find her shoes, which meant she didn't bring any shoes. But where did this bed come from? This mattress was indeed exceptionally comfortable, even more comfy and softer than the mattress that Lyod gave for her home in the human world. Aria used her magic to change clothes and put on her shoes before she got off bed. It was then that she noticed some thorny roots had gathered around her bed like a fence that kept out all beasts from attacking her. Even though it was called a fence, these thorny roots were only as high as Aria's heels and wouldn't be able to keep out the beasts. Aria decided not to think about it too much and immediately returned home. She didn't know if Lyod had returned or not, and she was afraid Lyod would worry about realizing her disappearance without news if he did. The moment Aria's feet stepped through the thorny roots, the roots shifted and sank into the ground. This left Aria astonished and dumbfounded. She felt that this root meant no harm to her and disappeared as if the roots didn't want to hurt her leg. Aria shook her head to get rid of this absurd possibility. Maybe her sleep was so soundless that her brain melted, and she couldn't think straight. But… how did she get home? She doesn't even know where she is now. It would be faster if she used her wings and flew to find out. "I wouldn't spread my wings if I were you." a voice stopped Aria from displaying the wings she had stored inside her back. This voice was like a child's, but Aria didn't feel anyone's presence. "Who is it?" Aria glanced in all directions to find the voice owner. Aria could hear someone walking, but these footsteps sounded heavy, as if they weren't a child walking. Aria gulped nervously and increased her vigilance. Not long after, a crocodile… or maybe a lizard… Aria didn't know what kind of beast it was. It was shaped like a lizard, but its body had hard scales like a crocodile, and this animal was so huge that a small child sat cross-legged on its head. The little girl had striking orange hair like a sunflower, distinctive red eyes, and a broad, friendly, childish smile. Is this little girl a vampire? "I'm not a vampire. In case you're wondering, I am one." But… isn't it only vampires who have red eyes? "My name is Tripena. My friends call me Nana." Aria still didn't respond. She knew she was dealing with a little girl, but her instincts told her this was not just any little girl you've ever met. "Lady Aria, there is no need to be so tense. I'm not your enemy. In fact, I was the one protecting you all night."
