Chapter 4: THE ALPHA'S PACK

ANNA’S POV Dominic left the room with anger, slamming the door so hard the walls shook. My heart was still racing, but deep down, I knew what Nick and I had just done was all an act. Earlier, before Dominic even came to the room, Nick had looked at me with those sharp, knowing eyes. “I have a feeling Dominic is coming,” he said. I frowned, confused. “Wait… what? What do you mean?” He leaned closer, his voice low. “Can you moan in bed?” My face turned hot instantly. “What?!” I almost choked on my own breath. He smirked, not breaking eye contact. “Can you make him jealous? An eye for an eye.” For a moment, I didn’t know if he was serious. My stomach twisted, but then, slowly, I smiled. The thought of Dominic feeling what I felt for years, betrayal, humiliation, was tempting. “Yes, of course, I do,” I said softly. “But… how?” Nick brushed a strand of hair away from my face, his touch gentle but commanding. “I’ll show you.” Before I could say anything else, he turned me and bent me over the bed, his body close behind me. His lips hovered near my ear. His voice was a whisper that made my skin tingle. “All you have to do is pretend we’re making love, okay? And moan. The louder, the better.” I nodded, heart racing. Then I felt a light sting across my waist. Nick had taken off his belt and tapped it lightly against me. The sound of leather and the sudden sensation made me gasp. I moaned. “Louder,” he ordered. So I did. The moment Nick and I heard Dominic at the door, I moaned louder, pretending like we were lost in passion. I could feel Dominic’s anger even through the door, the banging, the screaming. But Nick didn’t stop. He lifted me easily, carrying me to the bed. This time he laid me down, climbed on top, and leaned close to my neck. He didn’t kiss me, but his breath was warm against my skin, and he made it look real enough to drive Dominic insane. The door finally burst open. Dominic’s eyes were wild, his face red, his whole body trembling with rage. For a moment, I thought he would rip Nick apart right there. Nick stood his ground, warning him to back off, his voice calm but filled with power. “You’re no match for me, stay away from Anna.” The fire in Dominic’s eyes told me he wanted to fight, but in the end, he stormed out, slamming the door behind him. When the room finally went quiet, Nick turned back to me. His eyes softened. “Hey, did I scare you?” I looked at him, still catching my breath from the act. “Why are you so determined to bring me home? I have nothing to offer. Not to you, not to your pack. I’m just a wolfless omega.” He stepped closer, his gaze steady. “No. You’re my mate, okay? We’re supposed to be together. You’re more than just my mate, you’re the Luna to the Blue Lake Pack.” My heart stuttered. The Luna… to the most powerful pack in the country? I looked down, shaking my head. “I can’t believe this is happening. I mean… I think you’ve got the wrong person.” Nick took my hand, holding it firmly, like he never wanted to let go. “The Moon Goddess led me to you. I trust her judgment. And more than that, I believe in fate. I swallowed hard, the weight of his words sinking into me. “I just… I need some time to process everything.” He nodded, his thumb brushing across my hand. “Of course. Get some rest. I’m taking you home tomorrow, okay?” Then he leaned down, kissed my forehead gently, and rested his forehead against mine. His warmth steadied my heartbeat. “Get some sleep,” he whispered. When he left the room, I sat there in silence, my mind spinning. “Kaleigh,” I whispered to my wolf, “am I worthy to be Alpha Nick’s mate? Or… am I just going to get abandoned again?” Her voice was soft in my head. Darling, you have me now. Whatever comes next, we’ll face it together. A small smile broke on my lips. “Yeah… I guess you’re right.” I slept off, when I woke up the next morning Nick was already in my room to check if I had dressed up to leave with him. I quickly prepared and we left, Nick and I arrived at the Blue Lake Pack. I stared in awe as we passed through the gates. The territory was huge, larger than anything I’d ever seen. The houses were modern, elegant, lined with shining glass and marble. Guards stood tall, watching us with respect. Everywhere, warriors trained, their strength obvious. I turned to Nick, my eyes wide. “You never mentioned you were a billionaire.” Before Nick could answer, his Beta Alex chuckled from behind us. “Billionaire? You underestimate Alpha Nick.” Nick’s guards were already lined up, waiting for us. Nick raised his hand, his voice powerful and clear. “Everyone, this is Anna. Your future Luna. A gift from the Moon Goddess.” My heart skipped as, one by one, they bowed to me. I felt shy the moment they bowed to me as their Luna. My palms started sweating, and my throat felt dry. “Please, um… just call me Anna,” I said quickly, almost stumbling over my words. “Luna feels… too much.” Nick’s eyes lingered on me, steady and warm. “Anna, you’ll get used to it, okay? Look, next month is your Luna ceremony.” My heart skipped. I lowered my voice, barely able to look at him. “Ceremony? No, I… I don’t even own a proper dress.” Before I could say anything more, I lifted my head and saw a girl coming down the stairs, waving at Nick. She rushed to him, throwing her arms around him. I froze for a second, watching. “This is Milan, my sister,” Nick said quickly, almost like he’d read my thoughts. “She will be taking care of you.” He handed her a card. “Take my card, buy anything Anna likes.” Milan’s face lit up, snatching the card. “Copy that, big brother.” Nick’s gaze fell back on me. “Go,” he said softly, like an order but still gentle. So, I followed Milan. The mall she brought me to wasn’t just big, it was breathtaking. I’d never seen such luxury in my entire life. Shiny glass, polished floors, perfume so strong it clung to my skin even as I walked. The first room Milan dragged me into was filled with underwear. I froze at the sight of lacy, colorful pieces, hanging on elegant displays. Milan’s lips curled into a mischievous smile as I looked around. “Step one, finding you the cutest underwear,” she said, her voice playful. She plucked up a tiny piece from the rack and held it out proudly. I looked at it and nearly choked. “Um, it…” My face burned. I held it up, and my jaw dropped. “This looks like… ropes! Two strings? How can someone even wear this?” Milan rolled her eyes dramatically. “Please. This little miracle will make your ass look amazing.” “My God,” I whispered, staring at it like it was a forbidden object. “It’s…” I shook my head quickly. “You know, I don’t need any of this stuff.” I shoved it back at her. She caught my wrist, eyes wide with curiosity. “Wait… Anna, are you still a virgin?” I wasn’t expecting that. Heat exploded in my cheeks. I rushed forward and clapped my hand over her mouth. “Milan! Keep your voice down!” Her eyes sparkled with mischief even behind my hand. She pulled away, whispering now but still grinning. “Seriously, the Alpha in your old pack must have been blind. You’re beautiful. And with the killer lingerie, my brother won’t stand a chance.” I tried to ignore her words, but my eyes dropped to the price tag. Five hundred dollars, for two tiny pieces of string. “No way. This is way too much.” Milan rolled her eyes and snatched it back. “Please. My brother is loaded. I mean, he owns this dawn mall. You could spend millions a day, and he wouldn’t even notice a dent in his account.” I blinked at her, still not able to wrap my head around it. “How rich is Nick exactly?” Milan smirked like she’d been waiting for me to ask. “Welcome to your new life, babe. Time to start spoiling yourself.” She didn’t stop there. Milan dragged me from one floor to another, dresses, shoes, makeup, jewelry. I felt dizzy as we went through endless racks of glittering gowns and sparkling heels. Every time I said no, Milan said yes twice as loud. By the end, I had bags and bags of things I didn’t even know how to use. Finally, when my arms ached from carrying so much, Milan stopped outside the mall. She handed me the remaining bags with her. “Here’s your sexy little treasure. Alex and I are going to check on my family’s aromatherapy shop.” I nodded quickly. “I’ll be here.” When they left, I bent down, trying to arrange all the shopping bags neatly so they wouldn’t spill over. And that’s when I heard a voice behind me. “Anna.” I froze. Slowly, I turned. My stomach dropped as I saw a man standing right behind me. He took my hand and handed me a sheet of paper and left without telling me his name or who he was. My hands were shaking with fear. The moment I opened the paper my heart nearly jumped out of my chest.
