I itched my eyes as a tiny bit of sun light came in through the small cell window. It was morning. I was aching all over from sleeping sitting upwards. I felt broken. I had caused Josh's death. I wanted my death to hurry up and come. I had done some things over the past but killing Josh was the worse. I looked down at the cuffs. I liked how they cut deeper into my arms because it meant that I had something to think about. I was just about to try and sink back to sleep when I heard footsteps. I didn't want to see that f****d up looking thing. I closed my eyes. "I'm in no mood for your bull s**t Farron." I growled keeping my eyes closed.
"Lord or Captain Farron I'm not sure what to call him asked me to bring you breakfast....." An angelic voice said softly. I opened my eyes to have my breath knocked out of me. Standing in front of me was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. A head of Fire red curls that fell down past her back to her waist. She had the biggest brown eyes I had ever seen. Pale creamy skin with a few freckles here and there. She was wearing a green dress that fitted her perfectly. I noticed she had a cut to her head and a bruise on her face. Had someone hit her? Fred stood behind her with a blank look.
"Lord Farron to you Sky." He spat at her as he unlocked the door and shoved her inside roughly. She fell into the cell but managed to stay on her feet with the tray still in her hands. I shoot to my feet and grabbed the tray from her hands. Helping her from falling over. I narrowed my eyes at Fred.
"Didn't someone ever tell you how to treat a woman with respect?" I growled at Fred. He looked at me with an unimpressed face.
"Anyone ever tell you the meaning of being a prisoner?" He stepped back at the cell giving the girl a look. "Lord Farron is questioning your parents. You are to stay in here till he is done. I will be back for you. Feed him. Nothing more. Or I will not be pleased do you understand me?" I looked at the girl. She put her head down causing her hair to fall around her.
"Yes Lieutenant Reed." She muttered. Freddie slammed the gate shut then disappeared. I put the tray down before grabbing her chin. She jumped back from me as if I hit her. Or was going to. I tried to be gentle.
"I'm not going to hurt you. I just wanted to look you're cut." I said gently. She shook her head. Her eyes were huge.
"No it's fine. I disrespected Lord Farron. I know I shouldn't have." That f*****g little bastard. I will kill him. "You should eat. You'll need your strength. I'm alright. Really go sit down and eat." I looked at her unsure. She went over to the side of the cell and sat down slowly holding her side as if in pain. I sat down with the tray in my lap. I began to eat slowly. It was toast and cheese with water. I wasn't about to complain I was starving. I couldn't remember the last time I ate.
"Why does Farron have your parents?" I asked her. She played with a piece of her long hair. She looked up at me. Her brown eyes looked into mine and it made me shiver. In a way I had never felt before. I was turning into a girl.
"I'm not sure. It was something to do with the King. My brother is here too. I overheard him mention me being taken to the King. My Dad and Mum looked terrified. That's when Farron ordered me to bring you breakfast. He had my parents and brother tied up. I don't know but for some reason he didn't want me to hear it." f**k. Farron had found her in one day how was that even possible. This was her. The King's daughter. I looked at her bright red hair and brown eyes so much like him. How did he do it? Wait.......
"Are you from West Warren?" I asked making her look at me with a frown. While I tried to place her face but the truth is although I grew up there I didn't really pay any attention to anyone there. I was lost in my own world of trying to survive my father.
"How'd you know that?" She whispered sounding terrified.
"Farron ordered for a Black Smith from West Warren....." She cut me up.
"My Father is the best Black Smith around." Also the once greatest Knight that ever was but he told me to never speak of that. I hadn't told a soul but now I thought about it that would make him The King's Champion who saved the Duchess of Nima. f*****g hell the truth had been there the whole time. Why hadn't I pieced it together before? Her father was the man who saved me years of pain. Who trained me. Who helped me. He was also the greatest warrior? "Do you know why he wants me?" I shook my head. I wanted to tell her. Dam I should tell her but I couldn't find it in me to. She didn't need to know the truth, she needed to be saved. I had to save her somehow. The fate that awaited her was nothing good. "Do you think he's going to kill me?" She asked. I looked down at my plate of food.
"I'm not sure." I said quietly. She let out a sigh.
"What are you in for?" I took a sip of water.
"A friend of mine he tried to steal the Lord's horse. The kid was young and an i***t. I tired to stop him. Now he's dead because of me." I chewed my lip trying not to think about him. I cleared my throat. Not wanting to show my emotions to a girl who was terrified.
"He meant a lot to you." She stated. I looked up to see her frowning.
"He was like a brother to me. Farron killed him because I disrespected him and called him an It." She stood up and came over to me. Sitting next to me. She held out here hand. I was surprised.
"Sky Knight." I smiled. What a name. I lifted my chained hand up to meet hers. Her hands were rough from years of work maybe. Though they were little and cool to the touch.
"Kaden Payne." She shook my hand with more strength that I thought she'd have. I was just about to say more when the cell opened up. Fred stood here.
"Sky get up." She looked at him not looking like she wanted to go anywhere. She shook her head confirming it. Fred came in grabbed her roughly by her hair. She let out a little cry of pain. I jumped to my feet but by the time I went to react Fred had her outside the cell and slammed the bars shut. He dragged her off. I had to get out of here and save that girl. If The King gets his hands on her, her life will be hell.
