The It who replaced me.

1325 Words
Kaden I looked around the cell unable to believe I was back here. Roach Manor. It had been over two years since I faked my death and left this place when I saw the real truth behind the King. Tonight the King had told his new Champion about his Daughter. He once told me too. Shortly after he had men come to this very Manor to have me killed because I didn't take it well. He told me he r***d an innocent women. Who was so terrified of him she went into hiding. He searched the whole Kingdom and found her. He tried to have her dragged back so he could have the baby at the Castle where they both would have been kept prisoner. She was saved by his Champion. He tutored his once Champion Nathan Green within a inch of his life trying to get the Duchess location but he refused to give it.  How could I trust a man like that?   When I threatened to out the truth he tried to have me killed. I got badly hurt. However I was able to defend myself and defeat everyone he sent, but I knew a monster like him wouldn't stop until he knew I was no longer a threat to him. I faked my death. Along with a few of my loyal Soldiers.  Yet here I am. Sitting in a cell because Josh thought it was a good idea to steal a horse. I tried to stop him. Knowing it would only lead to trouble. He thought he was doing us a favour. He wasn't. The kid was barely eighteen and had a lot to learn. I looked over at him. He looked terrified. I wanted to reassure him that we would be alright and find our freedom again but I had no way of knowing that would happen. Margo Farron had quite the Reputation.   "I'm so sorry Kai." He whispered feeling me looking at him. I smiled. It may be his fault but I'm not a heartless bastard. I slap him on the shoulder despite the heavy cuffs. I wondered where the bizarre Captain got them from. The new me was not what I expected. Everyone had heard stories of the great and terrible Margo Farron. I thought he'd would be Six ten, built with pure muscle. Ugly snarling face.  That was not what he was. He was barely five feet. Skinny and no muscle. He was like a freaking girl. Him and his red hair. Like the King's. "Kid we're in this together now." It was the truth. He chewed on his lip nervously. "They're going to kill us aren't they?" In truth we should have been dead by now. If the stories of Farron were true. I had not expected us to make it even this far. I was surprised.  "I don't know kid." I said truthfully.  I knew these Cells were impossible to get out of. I knew that because I kept prisoners in here all the time when I was Lord of this Manor. I rubbed my face thinking how terrified I felt when the King came in. I thought he would recognize me. However I relaxed when for unknown reason Farron made us out to be Slaves. Knowing the King was too much of a scum bag to notice Slaves. I was reeling from Farron not ordering us to be killed on the spot. Why hadn't it killed us yet? Hours ticked by of us just sitting there. Josh fell asleep while my mind ran over the last two years. How I started the Rebels. How I made it my mission to find the King's daughter. That's what I have been, putting all my efforts into finding the King's daughter. She was heir to the throne and perhaps we could have started a campaign to get the girl on the throne. Or even just keep her safe however despite all my effort of doing that, there was no sign. I didn't know where to start either. I found not even a photo of the Duchess of Nima. I had no idea what the woman looked like. I heard the noise of padding feet before the wolf and It came into view. Wearing all black. It's red hair looking like a wig. A pale face that looked like a child's face. It didn't talk but then again It was known for not talking. It bent down putting sandwiches and bottles of water through the gap. It went to walk off but I don't know what made me react to it. Perhaps it was him having my old life or because he looked like a skinny child. Yet had the Reputation of the Greatest Warrior of the Kingdom. In that moment jealous and pride took over me before I could control it. This thing had replaced me. How? It looked pathetic. "You look like a child. Are you even old enough to be in the Army?" I asked looking It over. The constant hard expression. The almost black eyes. Long eye lashes and lips that looked too big to be one a guy. He should have been a girl. Might be a half decent looking girl. If It's hair was longer and the face softened a little. "I am not a child." It spat in a strange half deep voice. It sounded too fake. "Then what are you? You're clearly not a guy. You look like a twelve years old. Even this guy looks more manly than you and he's just a kid." I nodded my head at Josh. Who shifted at my voice. The wolf must have sensed tension because teeth came out as a growl echoed through the Cell. "Listen to me Blue at the moment the only thing that's keeping you and the kid alive is me. Piss me off and I will end you're lives." It spat at me. It's voice seeming more high pitched every time it lost it's temper. I wanted to piss It off.  "Why do your men even follow orders from you? Look at you." I gave it a once over. "You're pathetic." I suddenly saw the change in It. It was like a storm came out of nowhere. I suddenly regretted opening my mouth. Even more so when the Cell's doors flew open. The Wolf came at me while It bent down and grabbed a sleeping Josh up off the ground. The kid was so startled that he couldn't react. "You just cost him, his life." It growled at me. I went to move but the wolf snapped at me. "NO WAIT." I shouted. Though it was too late. The wolf left after one last snap at me and the cell door slamming shut. Josh was shouting to me. Begging me to do something. Anything. I couldn't even get up. I felt like I had just been stabbed. Josh was the brother of my closest friend and once lieutenant. He also faked his death. He came with me and dragged his brother along when the King had his parents killed for my mistake. The King Knew Joe was my most trusted man and thought I had told Joe everything. He went after him. I was able to save Josh and Joe in time. No one else. How was I ever going to tell Joe that I got his brother killed? My heart felt like it was crushing. I slammed my head against the wall a few times until pain shot through my head and down my back. I laid down wishing that I had died a few hours ago when we were forest caught it would be so much better right now. I was the jack ass who got a kid killed for mouthing of to a well known crazy. Farron was going to regret the day It dragged Josh out of here. I was going to make it pay.
